NORTH EAST VALLEY ROAD BOARD.—Ratepayers are hereby notified that the Road Board intend on Saturday, the 12th September, 1874, to make a General Rate of One Shilling in the £ for the year ending June 2nd, 1875. The Rate Roll can be inspected by parties interested for ten days from 1st September, at Mr. Thomas Brown’s, N.E. Valley.

SUBURBAN ROAD BOARD.

TENDERS Wanted for forming Road through Mr. John Sidey’s Ground, Costorphine Sub-division, 57 chains more or less. Also for erecting a Fence, 114 chains, more or less. Plans and specifications to be seen at the house of Mr. P. McLaren. The Board will be on the ground to shew the work on Friday, September 4th, at 2 o’clock. Tenders to be lodged with P. McLaren or John Wilson, on or before Monday, 7th September, 1874. The lowest or any Tender not necessarily accepted.

OUTRAM ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is Hereby Given that it is the intention of the Outram Road Board to levy a General Rate of 9d. in the £ on the annual valuation, over the whole district, on the 12th September, 1874, for the year ending 30th June, 1875. Rate-roll lies for inspection at West Taieri Schoolhouse.

AT a Meeting of the Peninsula Road Board held on the 15th inst., it was resolved to borrow the sum of three thousand (3000) pounds, to be divided amongst the various Sub-divisions in proportion to the amount of Rates collected in each. Ratepayers having any objections to the measure contemplated, must forward the same to me, in writing, within thirty days from the date of the present advertisement.

NOTICE is Hereby Given that the Partnership heretofore existing between Robert Wright Stirling and Max Gall, at Cromwell, in the Province of Otago, as Chemists, Druggists, and Perfumers, has been dissolved by mutual consent, as from the 1st day of August, 1874. The said Max Gall will continue to carry on the said businesses on his own account, and to receive and discharge all debts and liabilities owing to or by the said late partnership.

SUPREME COURT CIRCUIT SITTING.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that a Circuit Court Sitting of the Supreme Court for the despatch of Criminal and Civil business, will be held in the Court House at Lawrence, on Tuesday, the 15th day of September next, at the hour of ten o’clock in the forenoon; at which time and place all persons bound by recognizances or otherwise to appear as prosecutors, plaintiffs, defendants, or witnesses are required to give their attendance.

FOUND Trespassing in my field a chestnut colt, no visible brand, for which the sum of ten shillings is claimed for damage done to oat stack, and two shillings and sixpence per week until removed; and if not claimed within one month from date, will be sold to pay expenses.

AMENDED NOTICE.

WHALING BONUS, £500.

THE Provincial Government will pay £250 by way of Bonus to the first vessel which leaves the Province fully equipped for a whaling cruise, provided such vessel shall leave on or before the 1st day of November 1874; also £250 on her returning to the Province with a cargo of oil; provided that such vessel is owned in, and hails from a port within the Province. Vessel not to be under 150 tons. Provided also that she carries at least five boys as apprentices. Bonus will be paid on production of certificate from the Harbor Master that these provisions have been complied with.

NOTICE.—ATHENÆUMS.

A SUM of £1500 having been voted by the Provincial Council to assist in providing buildings to be used as Athenæums in localities where no such buildings have as yet been erected.

It is hereby notified to those desirous of participating in the vote, that in order to do so it will be necessary to forward a written application, stating the amount collected, and giving a general description of the approximate cost of the building proposed to be erected. The sum voted will be distributed pro rata to the contributors of the district, provided that in no case shall the contribution of the Government exceed the sum of £250 to any building.

Applications to be received at this office on or before the 1st day of October proximo, after which date no further application for subsidy will be entertained during the current financial year.

BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF POTTERY WORKS IN OTAGO.

THE Provincial Government, being desirous of encouraging the establishment of Pottery Works in Otago, is prepared to pay a Bonus of £250, under:—

On the erection of buildings and plant to a value of at least £300—£75.

On the production of pottery to a value of not less than £150—£75.

On the production of a further quantity of pottery to a value of not less than £200—£100.

The potteryware in each case to be suitable for household or domestic purposes, to be produced in works permanently established in the Province, and to be manufactured either wholly or to a large extent from material obtained in the Province.

Proposals will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until the 1st of October, 1874, and should state the estimated cost and productive power of the works proposed to be erected, the date at which the same will be in operation, and that the parties will be bound in the sum of £100 to produce pottery to the value of £300, within two years from the date on which their offer is accepted.
