FRESH TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 23rd June, 1874, for

Contract No. 907—Construction of portion of Road, Tuapeka to Teviot, situate about two miles west of Beaumont, commencing at a point 20 chains west of Mr. John Main’s, and extending up the Big Hill.

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin; and at Police Camp, Lawrence.

Tenders to be endorsed “Tender for Contract No. 907.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


AWAIRIKI STREAM.

Tenders will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until Noon of TUESDAY, 23rd June, for

Contract No. 941, Laying Permanent Way, and other Works.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at the Police Camp, Oamaru.

Tenders to be endorsed “Tender for Contract No. 941.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


GREEN ISLAND BRANCH RAILWAY.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for works until noon of Tuesday, the 23rd June, for

Contract No. 940, Supply of Sleepers, Ballast, and Laying Permanent Way.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin.

Tenders to be endorsed “Tender for Contract No. 940.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


300 TONS COAL.—Tenders will be received at the Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Friday, 26th June, 1874, for the supply of the above quantity of Coal (state price per ton) for Invercargill Railway, to be delivered into the trucks at Bluff Harbour, on or before Monday, 10th August, 1874. The Government will not be bound to accept any tender.


FIREWOOD.—Tenders will be received at the Government Offices, Dunedin, for supply of Manuka Firewood, and Mixed do., per cord; to be stacked at the Government Offices, Police, Gaol, Immigration Depot, Invercargill, as may be required; or the remainder of this year 1874. The Government will not be bound to accept any tender.


WASTE LAND BOARD.

The Weekly Meeting of the Board will in future be held on Wednesday, at eleven o’clock a.m.

NOTICE to Applicants for Unsurveyed Land, under “Otago Waste Land Act, 1872.” It is hereby notified to the Applicants whose names appear in the subjoined Schedule, that they have been declared to be purchasers of the Sections set opposite their names in the Schedule, and that the purchase money of these Sections must be paid to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Dunedin and Invercargill, as under, on or before Wednesday, the 1st day of July, 1874, otherwise the applications will be deemed withdrawn, cancelled, and void, and the deposit made at the time of lodging the application will be forfeited.

OTAGO WASTE LANDS ACT, 1872.

Section 65, Sub-section 1.

TENTH SCHEDULE.

No. 6, District of Mount Ida,
22nd of May, 1874.

To the District Land Officer at Naseby,

I hereby give notice that I intend to construct a Water-race, for irrigation and water-power for thrashing, &c., about one mile and a quarter above Swinebourne Farm, and terminating at Swinebourne Farm.

The length of such race is about one and a half miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is southerly.

The mean depth and breadth of such, 18in. by 36in., and it is capable of five heads of water.

Any person objecting to the issue of a License to the above-named applicant, must lodge his objection in writing at my office within fourteen clear days from the date hereof.

FAST DAY IN DUNEDIN.

THURSDAY, 18th June, 1874, being the Presbyterian Fast Day in Dunedin, the Provincial Government Offices there will not be opened.


EDUCATION BOARD.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Education Board will be held at the Government Buildings, Dunedin, upon Tuesday, the 30th day of June, 1874, at 12 o’clock noon.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the situation of Schoolmistress for the Invercargill District School. Salary £100 per annum. Each applicant to state when she will be prepared to enter upon her duties. Applications with testimonials, to be forwarded to the Chairman Invercargill School Committee, not later than 29th inst.


TENDERS WANTED for Fencing, Excavating, and Levelling, at Portobello New School Residence.

Tenders are also invited for the purchase of the old School Residence.

Specifications may be seen at the Education Office, Dunedin, or the Schoolhouse, Portobello. Offers to be lodged on or before the 27th current, with
