NOTICE.
Certain Lands in the Province of Otago reserved as an endowment for the Invercargill Athenæum.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS it is provided by Section sixteen of “The Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865,” that reserves for inter alia public purposes may, upon the recommendation of the Provincial Council, be made by the Superintendent, and that such reserves shall not be alienated from the specific purposes to which they have been severally dedicated, except under the provisions of the Public Reserves Act, 1856. And whereas the Provincial Council did on the twenty-ninth day of July 1873, recommend that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved for certain public purposes, to wit, for the endowment of the Invercargill Athenæum, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose. Now, therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of every authority and power vested in me in that behalf, do hereby reserve and do hereby make, publish, and declare that I have dedicated and reserved the following lands, that is to say:—
All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago and district of Southland, containing 1077 acres 3 roods and 28 poles, more or less, being sections numbered respectively one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4), five (5), six (6), seven (7), eight (8), nine (9), and ten (10), block two (X), and sections one (1), two (2), twenty-four (24), twenty-five (25), and twenty-six (26), block eleven (XI), Invercargill Hundred, as the same land is particularly described on the map of the said Hundred, and as for the said public purpose, to wit, for and as an endowment for the Invercargill Athenæum, the said Athenæum being duly incorporated by Ordinance No. 359, passed by the Provincial Council in Session XXIII, in the year 1871.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this twenty-sixth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE, 1871.
Alteration of Polling Places.
WHEREAS by notices and appointment dated the eighteenth day of June, 1872, published in Otago Provincial Gazette, the polling places for the respective districts and sub-divisions of districts therein mentioned, under and by virtue of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” were duly fixed and appointed until the same shall be altered or varied: And whereas it is expedient that the polling places in the district and sub-divisions of district aforementioned should be altered:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby revoke the appointment of the polling place for the district and sub-division aforementioned made by the notice and appointment dated the eighteenth day of June, 1872, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint the places aforementioned to be the polling places for the district and sub-divisions of district aforementioned at which the poll shall be taken at all elections under the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” held for the same until duly altered or varied, of which notice is hereby given to all concerned:—

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
In conformity to the 29th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Lawrence, on or before the 1st day of June 1874.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Lawrence.
