SCHOOLMISTRESS Wanted for the Balclutha School.
To one qualified to teach music a preference will be given.
Minimum salary, £80 per annum.
Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged with the Chairman Balclutha School Committee, on or before March 20th, 1874.

WANTED, a Schoolmaster for the Wallacetown School;
Salary, Government subsidy, and School fees, with 2½ acres of land, and free house containing five rooms. Applications, with testimonials, to be sent in to the Rev. A. Stevens, Chairman of School Committee, on or before the 20th May. One qualified to teach the classics and Higher Branches preferred. Must be able to enter upon his duties by the 20th June.

PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
The following Regulations of the Education Board respecting Provincial Scholarships are published for general information.
School teachers are requested to forward to me, before the 1st April, 1874, a list containing the names and ages of intending competitors belonging to their several schools. For Regulations see Gazette published in December last.

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND.
Applications will be received by Mr. John H. Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly advertised.
Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for the leasing of Education Reserves, can be obtained from Mr. Baker, Invercargill.
SCHOLARSHIPS.
THERE are offered for Competition, to Students intending to study for the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church,
TWO Scholarships, tenable for three years, of the annual value of £25 and £15, respectively, to be competed for by students entering on their University course; and
ONE Scholarship, tenable for two years, of the annual value of £25, to be competed for by second year students.
The subjects of examination for the first two scholarships are:— 1. Arithmetic. 2. English Grammar and Analysis. 3. Mathematics: Euclid, Book I. 4. English History: Period between French Revolution and Accession of Queen Victoria. 5. Latin: De Amicitia. 6. Greek: Grammar. 7. Scripture Knowledge: Genesis and Acts.
The subjects for the last-mentioned scholarship are:— 1. Mathematics: Euclid, Books I. and II. 2. Algebra up to Quadratics. 3. English History and Literature: Period 1689-1727. 4. Roman History: First Century. 5. Latin: Æneid Book VI. 6. Greek: Anabasis Book II. 7. Scripture Knowledge: Genesis and Acts.
The competition will take place in the Class-room of Knox Church, on the 29th and 30th April, at 10 a.m.
Intending competitors will please give early notice of their intention to E. B. Cargill, Esq., and also forward certificates of character from their respective ministers.
EDUCATION MEETINGS.
In consequence of no School Committee having been elected for the following mentioned districts on the 12th of January, His Honor the Superintendent has appointed a Meeting of the Owners and Occupiers of land and householders of each district, to be held in the Schoolhouse, on Monday, the 30th March, at Seven o’clock, p.m., to elect a School Committee for the current year:—

- Otepopo
- Portobello
- Saddle Hill
- Maerewhenua
- Oteramika
- Waiwera
- Waipori
- Popotunoa
The meeting at Clinton will be held at the Royal Mail Hotel.

EDUCATION DISTRICTS.
NOTICE is hereby Given, that the Education Board has divided the Educational District of Caversham into the three separate Educational Districts of Caversham, Forbury, and Kensington; and that a meeting of owners and occupiers of land and householders will be held in the School-house of each of the said districts, upon Monday, the 6th day of April, 1874, at eight o’clock p.m., for the purpose of electing a school committee for such district for the current year.

WANTED for the Woodlands Main District School,
a duly qualified teacher. Salary £100 per annum, and school fees with commodious newly erected residence. Under a competent teacher the attendance will be very large. Applications to be lodged with the undersigned on or before the 14th March.

LINDHURST ROAD BOARD.
NOTICE is hereby Given, that it is the intention of the Board to open a new road in the Waimumu Subdivision, said road to be one chain wide, and to start from the old Terrace road at a point near tri. Q., and end in the reserve, Mataura Bridge, passing through sections 4 and 46, the property of the N. Z. & A. Land Co., and section 3, the property of Mr. Hugh Cameron.
Also, that the Board intend closing certain road lines in the Waimumu subdivision, as under, viz.: That road line starting from the Mataura river, and dividing sections 52, 50, 48, and 46 from sections 21, 15, 9, and 4, and ending near trig. A.
