    (1.) All that area in the Province of Otago Colony of
    New Zealand containing by admeasurement seven (7a
    0r 32p) more or less situate in the Greenvale district and
    in blocks numbered 4 and 5 block II on the map of the
    said district; bounded towards the north-east
    and south-east by parts of said sections 4 and 5 seven
    thousand five hundred and thirty (7530) links—towards
    the north-west and south-west by other parts of said
    sections 4 and 5 seven thousand three hundred (7300)
    links—towards the west by a road line one hundred and
    fifty (150) links and also one hundred and twenty (120)
    links.

  1. Makarewa Road District.
    (1.) All that area in the Province of Otago containing
    by admeasurement 18a 2r 29p more or less being a road
    line situate in block IV Invercargill Hundred; bounded
    towards the north by parts of sections numbered 14, 27,
    28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 block IV eighteen thousand (18000)
    links more or less .... and towards the south by other parts
    of said sections numbered 14, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33
    block IV eighteen thousand (18000) links more or less.

Plan to be seen at the School-house Grove Bush.

THE WHALING BONUS, £500.
THE Provincial Government will pay £250 by way of
Bonus to the first Vessel which leaves the Province
fully equipped for a whaling cruise; also £250 on her
returning to the Province with a cargo of oil. Provided
that such Vessel is owned by, and sails from, a port
within the Province. Provided also that she carries at
least five boys as apprentices. Bonus will be paid on
production of certificate from the Harbour Master that
these provisions have been complied with.

AMENDMENT ACT 1873.”
NOTICE is hereby given that the Superintendent of
Otago, with the advice of the Executive Council,
has appointed
JOHN HOLLAND BAKER, Esq.,
a Commissioner under Section two (2) of “The Southland
Waste Lands Act Amendment Act 1873,” to classify all
the Waste Lands of the Crown within the District formerly
known as the Province of Southland, and not in-
cluded within any Hundreds now existing, into agricul-
tural land and pastoral land respectively, vice John
Turnbull Thomson, Esq., resigned.

NOTICE—FOREST TREE PLANTING.
HIS Honor the Superintendent of the Province of
Otago directs it to be notified that he has appointed

JOHN INNES,
and WILLIAM HENRY VALPY,
to be Officers for the purpose of certifying that the con-
ditions entitling claimants to a free grant of land under
the provisions of “The Forest Trees Planting Encour-
agement Act 1871,” the Act in amendment thereof, of
1872, and “The Otago Waste Lands Act 1872” have
been fulfilled.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the 1st
January, 1874, a Fixed White Light will be ex-
hibited from a Lightship moored on the Timaru Bank, in
the Lower Harbour of Dunedin. It will show an un-
broken light all round, and may be seen in clear weather
five miles.

EDUCATION MEETINGS.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the Annual Statutory
Meeting of the Owners and Occupiers of Land in
each Educational District, for the Elec-
tion of a new School Committee, and for the other
purposes specified by a new School Ordinance, will be held
upon Monday the 12th day of January, 1874, at seven o’clock p.m. at
the following mentioned places respectively, viz.:—

At Dunedin, in the Middle District School-house, be-
tween York place and Dowling street;
At Tokomairiro, in the Main District School-house,
Milton;
At Mosgiel, in the Drill Shed, Mosgiel;
And in the respective School-houses, or buildings used as
School-houses, in the following mentioned districts, viz.:
Port Chalmers, Portobello, North-East Harbour, Ander-
son’s Bay, North-East Valley, Wakari, Kaikorai, Morn-
ington, Caversham, Green Island, East Taieri, Saddle
Hill, North Taieri, Blueskin, Waikouaiti, Hampden, Oamaru,
Waiareka, Kakanui, Tokomairiro, Waihola, Gore, Tuapeka
Mouth, Clyde, Alexandra, Queenstown, Naseby, Manio-
toto, Palmerston, Moeraki, Waitati, Purakanui, Evan’s
Flat, Dunkeld (Beaumont), Clinton, Kelso, Lawrence,
Arrowtown, Hyde, Macetown, Glenore, South Akatore,
Southbridge, Clarendon, Kuri Bush, Adam’s Flat, Shag
Valley, Clarke’s Flat, Upper Kyeburn, Lower Kyeburn,
Indi’s Gully, Purakanui, Evan’s Flat, Dunkeld (Beau-
mont), Waitaki, Britain’s Point, Maheno, Manuka Creek,
Forest Hill, Mabel Bush, Grove Bush, Groper’s Bush,
Limestone Plains, Orepuki, Oreti, Wild Bush, Welshman’s,
Miller’s Flat, Havelock, Owake Flat, Clifton, Ahuriri Flat,
Kingston, Upper Waiareka, Kawarau Gorge, Bannockburn,
and Blackstone Hill.

The householders, in the following mentioned localities
respectively, in which schools have been established or
authorised, are advised to meet in the school-houses or
buildings used as school-houses, of their respective dis-
tricts on the aforesaid Monday, the 12th day of January,
1874, at 7 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of electing School
Committees for the ensuing year, viz.:—Men Flat,
Moa Flat, Allanton, Saddle Hill, Flag Swamp, Wether-
stones, Otakia, Popotunoa, Taieri Beach, Arahura, Moa
Flat, Hindon, Tapanui, Upper Harbour West, Lower Har-
bour, Whare Flat, Blacks, Te Houka, Waiwera, Merton,
Wangaloa, Lower Shotover, Moeraki, Mimihau, Hyde,
Macetown, Glenore, South Akatore, South Bridge, Ca-

Mouth, Thompson’s, Drybread and Tinkers, Tutu-

Nightcaps, Winton, Otatara, Woodlands, Waikaia,
Waikaka, Waipahi, Clinton, Kaka Point, Pukerau,
Waitaki, Britain’s Point, Maheno, Manuka Creek, Fo-
rest Hill, Mabel Bush, Grove Bush, Groper’s Bush, Lime-
stone Plains, Orepuki, Oreti, Wild Bush, Welshman’s,
Miller’s Flat, Havelock, Owake Flat, Clifton, Ahuriri Flat,
Kingston, Upper Waiareka, Kawarau Gorge, Bannockburn,
and Blackstone Hill.
