NOTICE

Of certain Land in the Town of Lawrence, in the Province of Otago, having been reserved by Municipal purposes.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of section 160 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act 1872,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved for Municipal purposes, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described as Reserves for Municipal purposes: (that is to say)—

Sections 4, 5, and 6, block XLIV; 1, 2, and 3, block LVII, and all that parcel of unsurveyed land in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by estimation one (1) acre and fourteen (14) perches, more or less, situate in the Town of Lawrence, being Crown lands between the new Beaumont Road and blocks numbered respectively XLIV and LVII on the map of the said town: bounded towards the north-west by the new Beaumont Road, seven hundred and fifteen (715) links, and four hundred (400) links; towards the east by Crown lands, twenty-nine (29) links; towards the south-east by sections numbered respectively 1, 2, and 3, block LVII, four hundred and forty-eight (448) links; also by sections numbered respectively 4, 5, and 6, block XLIV, seven hundred and five (705) links; and towards the west by Crown lands, seventy-two (72) links, be all the aforesaid linkages more or less, and intersected by Burrow street.

Dated at Dunedin this eighth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

IN conformity to the 29th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Cromwell on or before the 28th day of November, 1873.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Cromwell.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 14th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE

Thomas Hazlett, on behalf of Hazlett & Co., for 10 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at Doctor’s Flat, Bannockburn District, and being on Run 330.


PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

NOTIFICATION

Of the establishment of a Pound in the vicinity of Castle Rock.

NOTICE is hereby given, that by virtue of the powers vested in me by the “Impounding Ordinance 1872,” I have established a Pound in the vicinity of Castle Rock, in the Province of Otago, New Zealand, and that I have appointed Thomas Green, of Castle Rock aforesaid, to be keeper of the said Pound.

INSPECTOR OF THE LUNATIC ASYLUM

ACCEPTED.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to him in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, Duncan McGregor, Esq., M.A., M.B., J.P., Professor of Mental and Moral Science, Dunedin, as an Inspector of the Dunedin Public Asylum under the provisions of the “Lunatics Act 1868,” without salary, vice the Honorable Capt. Fraser, resigned.

FOUR Survey Apprentices required for the Survey Department. Age, not under 17. For terms apply at the Survey Office, Dunedin. None but well-educated youths, having a taste for drawing, need apply. Applications will be received up to 1st December.

  1. On the first Tuesday at noon in the months of December, March, June, and September in each year there shall be holden in each Licensing District a Meeting of all the Resident Magistrates appointed to hold Courts.
