LIVESTOCK NOTICES

One yellow and white cow, indistinct brand near ribs, like CC near rump; T near ribs; George Hewitt, owner of Section 10, Block IV, Dunedin and East Taieri District; Alexander Stewart, owner of sections 11 and 12, block 4, Dunedin and East Taieri District.

One strawberry steer, like H near rump, like CS off rump; same owner.

One strawberry bullock, like blotch near rump; Charles Hay, owner of section 1 of 14 and 15, block IV, Dunedin and East Taieri District.

One yellow and white heifer, no visible brands; T. M. Wilkinson, owner of section 2 of 14, block IV, Dunedin and East Taieri District.

One red and white bull, no visible brands.

One red and white heifer, brand near rump.

One yellow and white steer, like MH off rump; for which two shillings and sixpence (2s 6d) is claimed for trespass in growing crops and driving expenses; and in default of the above stock being released, they will be sold on Friday, the 14th day of November, 1873, at 12 o'clock noon, at the Leaning Rock Clyde Pound.

DISTRICT OF LAWRENCE, 26th September, 1873.

To the District Land Officer at Lawrence.

HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a Water Race for industrial purposes, commencing at a point at Benger Creek about half a mile above the Gorge, and terminating at the lower end of Mos Flat, opposite Bezuiden's Hotel.

The length of such race is three miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is about easterly.

The mean depth and breadth of such race is 3 feet by 3 feet, and it is capable of carrying four sluice heads of water.

CORPORATION OF INVERCARGILL.

Loan, £3,500, at Six per Cent.

THE Town Council having resolved, under the borrowing powers conferred on the Corporation by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865,” to contract a second Loan of £3,500, sealed tenders will be received up to 3 p.m. of the 20th November, 1873, for Seventy (70) Fifty Pounds (£50) Debentures. To have a currency of twenty years from the date of issue, and bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable half-yearly at Dunedin or Invercargill. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted. Tenders to be endorsed, “Tender for Debentures.”

The interest and sinking funds on loans are a first charge upon the rates. The debentures will be redeemable by a sinking fund, invested annually by Trustees appointed by the Superintendent.

The money raised will be expended exclusively on the drainage of the town and formation of streets.

The rates for the statutory financial year, ending 19th April, 1872, amounted to £1048 9s, of which £10 18s 6d remains unpaid. For 1873, £1230. For 1874, £1286.

The annual revenue amounts to about £4000.

The financial position of the Corporation is shown by the Balance Sheet and Estimates of Revenue, published in the Provincial Government Gazettes of 15th January and 30th April, 1873, respectively.

NOTICE

NOTICE is hereby given that from and after this date any person removing cattle from off the land belonging to Mr Samuel O’Kane, Reliance Hotel, Otakia, and situated in blocks III., IV., and V., Otakia district, without first giving Mr O’Kane notice of his intention so to do, will be prosecuted according to law—the penalty for said offence being any sum not exceeding £50; and further notice is hereby given, that from and after the 10th day of November next all cattle found trespassing on said land will be impounded.
