PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by Section 390 of "The Municipal Corporations Act 1867" it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by proclamation published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to declare that any complete parts of the several parts of the said Act numbered from two to twenty-two inclusive as he shall consider applicable, shall extend and be applied to any city, town, or place in such Province incorporated at the time of the passing of the said Act under any Act or Ordinance of the Legislature of such Province, and in such proclamation to fix a time at which such parts or any of them shall extend to any such city, town or place.

And whereas by Section 8 of "The Municipal Corporations Acts Amendment Act 1871," it is enacted that with regard to any city, town, or place within the Province of Otago incorporated under the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865," and the "Otago Municipal Corporations Empowering Act 1865," and that whether incorporated at or after the time of the passing of the "Municipal Corporations Act 1867," the Superintendent of the Province of Otago may from time to time, and as often as may be necessary, exercise the power conferred on such Superintendent by the three hundred and ninetieth section of the last-mentioned Act: And whereas it has been made to appear to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, that parts numbered respectively 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22, of "The Municipal Corporations Act 1867," are applicable and should be extended to the Municipality of Cromwell in the said Province, which is an incorporated town within the meaning of the said "Municipal Corporations Act 1867."

Now therefore I, the said James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by "The Municipal Corporations Act 1867" and "The Municipal Corporations Acts Amendment Act 1871," do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the sixteenth day of October instant, those parts of the said "Municipal Corporations Act 1867," numbered respectively 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22, shall extend and apply to and be in force in the Town of Cromwell, in the said Province of Otago.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this thirteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act, and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Cromwell, on or before the 7th day of November, 1873.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Cromwell.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 14th day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.

Duncan Mackellar, on behalf of the Premier Mining Company, for ten acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated between Smith’s Gully and Doctor’s Flat, on run 330, in block II, Bannockburn Survey District.

NOTICE.

WHEREAS it is intended to stop up these Roads and portions of Roads which are severally described in the Schedule hereunder written, and are delineated on the maps or plans mentioned and referred to in the "Roads Diversion Ordinance 1873," Session XXXII, copies of which maps or plans, so far as they relate to the particular roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in the Road District specified in the Schedule, have been deposited at the public school mentioned immediately after the description of the respective roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in such district: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the "Roads Diversion Ordinance 1873," Session No. XXXII, do hereby give notice that all persons objecting to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads, or any of them, are required to set forth a statement in writing of any well-grounded objections they may have to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads, and to leave such statement, addressed to me at my office in Dunedin, within sixty days from the first publication hereof.
