DISPUTES RELATIVE TO DISTRICT ROADS.

APPLICATIONS will be received until the 26th instant from persons who would be willing to undertake on behalf of the Government the settlement of disputes between District Road Boards and the owners of property, through which deviations of district roads were made prior to the election of district Boards under the “Roads Ordinance 1871.”

Information on the subject will be given on application at this office.

BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WOOL-PACK AND SACK MANUFACTORY IN OTAGO.

THE Provincial Government being desirous of encouraging the manufacture of Wool-packs and Sacks, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise, and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £1500 as under:—

On the erection of buildings and machinery to the value of at least £2000—£750.

On the production of Sacks or Wool-packs to a value of not less than £500—£400.

On the production of a further quantity of Sacks or Wool-packs to the value of not less than £1000—£350.

The cloth in each case to be produced by machinery permanently established in the Province, and to be manufactured either wholly or to a large extent from Phormium Tenax, or other indigenous plants, or from other material grown in the Province.

Offers will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until the 1st of May, 1874, and should state the estimated cost and productive power of the machinery proposed to be erected, the date on which the same will be in operation, and that the parties are prepared to be bound in the sum of £1000 to produce sacks and wool-packs to the value of £1500 within three years from the date on which their offer is accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept any offer.

INSPECTOR OF SCHOOLS.

THE Otago Educational Board invites Applications for the office of Inspector of Schools. None need apply but University men of high standing and considerable experience in Education. Salary, £500 per annum, exclusive of travelling allowances.

Applications, with testimonials and references, are to be lodged with me before the 1st November, 1873.

THE Provincial Government has resolved to offer for competition next December two Provincial Scholarships to Boys and two to Girls attending the Public Schools of Otago. The Scholarships will be tenable for three years. Further information will be furnished in a future advertisement.

NOTICE is hereby given that John Russell, having failed to execute the agricultural lease issued in his favor for section 18, block 21, Shotover, the same has been cancelled, and the land is now open for application under the Agricultural Lease Regulations.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned portion of land held under an Agricultural Lease by A. McBride has been cancelled, and the land is open for occupation by holders of miners’ rights.

All that piece or parcel of land containing two acres three roods and thirty poles (2a 3r 30p), more or less, being portion of section 109 of block three (III), Shotover District, and comprised by the following boundary lines, viz.: Starting at the south-eastern angle of section 109 aforesaid; thence by a straight line running 765 links bearing due north; thence by a straight line running 678½ links bearing 230° 52′; thence by line running 296 links bearing 211° 17′; thence by line running 686 links bearing 97° 02½′ to starting point, all bearings being in the true meridian. Land in question is bounded towards the east by surveyed road line, towards the south by Auriferous Reserve, and towards the west and north by the remaining portion of section 109 aforesaid.
