PROCLAMATION

Appointing certain Roads in the Aparima Road District to be Main District Roads.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the "Otago Roads Ordinance 1871," it is provided that upon the application of the Road Board of any road district, the Superintendent may from time to time, if it shall seem fit so to do, by proclamation, appoint that any roads or parts of roads, whether within or upon the boundary of such district, shall be main roads or main district roads: And whereas the Road Board of the Aparima road district have applied to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, to appoint the roads hereinafter described to be main district roads:

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said "Otago Roads Ordinance 1871," do hereby appoint the following roads, situate within or upon the boundary of the Aparima road district aforesaid, to be main district roads (that is to say)—

  1. The Wallacetown road, commencing at the eastern boundary of the Riverton township, extending through blocks VI, VII, and XLI, Jacob’s River Hundred, and through blocks XII, XI, V, and XVI, New River Hundred to the Oreti River, the eastern boundary of the Aparima road district.

  2. The Otautau road, commencing on the Wallacetown road, ten chains from the eastern boundary of the Riverton township, extending through block VI to the bridge over the Jacob’s river; then along the north-west boundaries of blocks IV and IX and through block VIII, Jacob’s River Hundred; and thence through block I, Aparima Hundred to the Otautau township.

  3. The Yellow Bluff road, commencing on the Wallacetown road, about twenty-five chains from the Waimatuku river, and extending through block XII; then along the eastern boundary of block X; and thence through blocks XV and XVI, Jacob’s River Hundred, to the Aparima river at a point known as the Yellow Bluff.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twentieth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION

Setting apart Lands in the Toetoes District, for alienation on deferred payments.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the forty-seventh section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Otago Waste Lands Act 1872," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, from time to time by Proclamation to be published in the Provincial Gazette, to set apart in any part of the Province, districts or blocks of land within which licenses to occupy land and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted: And whereas it is further enacted by the said section that pending the next meeting of the Provincial Council it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, by proclamation to set apart under the said section any lands which may have already been thrown open under any power given in any previous Act: And whereas the lands hereinafter described have already been thrown open under such power given in a previous Act: And whereas the lands hereinafter described have already been thrown open for sale under the provisions of "The Otago Waste Lands Act 1866:"

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the "Otago Waste Lands Act 1872," proclaim and declare that I have set apart and do hereby set apart from the date hereof, all that piece or parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by estimation five thousand (5000) acres, more or less, situate in Toetoes district, being parts of blocks numbered respectively five (V), eight (VIII), and nine (IX), on the map of the said district: Bounded towards the north by a road line twenty-two thousand (22,000) links; towards the east by other parts of blocks numbered respectively V and IX, thirty thousand seven hundred (30,700) links; towards the south by block numbered eleven (XI), twelve thousand (12,000) links; and towards the west by the ocean, by village reserve, also by sections numbered respectively 5, 1, and 3, block VIII, thirty-six thousand seven hundred (36,700) links, excepting out of the above description sections numbered respectively three (3) and four (4), block V, and three (3) block IX; as a district within which licenses to occupy land and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this eighteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
