PUBLIC NOTICE.

Under Section 1, Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that those portions of the Otago Gold Field, described in the Schedule hereto, are for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of their gold deposits; Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights, in claims of the undermentioned size, viz:— One (1) acre for each holder of a miner’s right.

Given under my hand at Cromwell, this 31st day of October, 1872.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of Otago Goldfields situate on the north branch of Luggate Creek, and formerly held by Alexander Staunton: comprising six acres.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfields situate in Bannockburn Creek, commencing at a point 80 yards due west of Mr Goldsmith’s house; thence running north, 440 yards; thence west, 220 yards; thence south, 440 yards; thence east, 220 yards to the starting point: comprising six acres.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfields situate at Drummond’s Creek, Upper Nevis, and adjoining claim known as “Joe’s” claim: comprising four acres.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at Bailey’s Gully (Bannockburn), adjoining the extended claim of John Barr, and being on the western side line thereof: comprising one acre.

SOUTH DUNEDIN POUND.—His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed

Mr James Barr

to be Poundkeeper of the South Dunedin Pound, vice John Barr, resigned.
