PUBLIC NOTICE.

Under Section 1, Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Gold Field, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights, in claims of the undermentioned size, viz.:

One (1) acre for each holder of a miner’s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres.

Given under my hand at Clyde, this 29th day of November, 1872.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of the Otago Gold Field, situate in the Cromwell division of the Dunstan District, and bounded on the south by the Kawarau river, on the east and north by the Clutha river, on the north and west by an imaginary line from the junction of the Cardrona river with the Clutha to Mount Barker, hence to Cruffel Peak, hence along the top of the Range forming the eastern boundary of the Cardrona Valley to Boundary Creek, and on the south-west by the Kirtle Burn to its junction with the Kawarau river.

PALMERSTON POUND.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Mr Joseph Lloyd to be the Poundkeeper of the Palmerston Pound, vice Thomas Gilligan, resigned.

20th December, Friday noon, a mare and two horses will be sold at Papakaio Pound.
20th December, Friday noon, a cow and a steer will be sold at Clyde Pound.
20th December, Friday noon, a colt will be sold at East Taieri Pound.
20th December, Friday noon, a bullock will be sold at Balclutha Pound.

ACCEPTANCE OF TENDERS.

Contracts Nos. 677 and 678.—The tenders of Mathison Bros. for the above Contracts for the sums of £416 5s. and £307 10s. respectively, have been accepted.

Contract No. 687.—The tender of W. Sigley for the above Contract, for the sum of £137 10s. has been accepted.

FRESH TENDERS

Fresh Tenders will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works, until noon of Friday, 20th December, 1872, for:

Contract No. 694—Formation of portions of Road between Winton and Wrey’s Bush, commencing about 40 chains north of Winton Bush on the North Road, and terminating at the Aparima river near Wrey’s bush.

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Winton.

Tender to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 694.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
