NOTICE.
Of certain land in the town of Balclutha, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a site for an Athenæum.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of Section 62 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act 1866,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be set apart as a site for an Athenæum, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a reserve for a site for an Athenæum: (that is to say)
Section 16, block VI, Balclutha.

PUBLIC NOTICE.
Under Section 1, Regulation IV.
WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Gold Field, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights, in claims of the undermentioned size, viz:—
One (1) acre for each holder of a miner’s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres.

TO CONTRACTORS.—Tenders are invited by the Outram Road Board for Cutting a Drain between Blocks V and VI, Maungatua District. Plans and specifications may be seen at Mr. Stevenson’s, Taieri Village. Tenders to be addressed to the Chairman of the Board on or before noon of Saturday, the 7th inst.—DAVID GRANT, Surveyor to the Board.
IMPOUNDED, on the twenty-eighth day of November, 1872, by Hugh Ross, by order of Donald Borrie, one bay mare, branded like diamond near shoulder, 2 off shoulder; one bay horse, like FR off shoulder; one bay horse, like ¶ near shoulder, like diamond off shoulder, owners unknown, for trespassing on fenced roads, and damaging crop; for which ten shillings per head is claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Papakaio, on the twentieth day of December, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—JAMES DALGLEISH, Poundkeeper of the Papakaio Pound.
IMPOUNDED, on the 28th day of November, 1872, by Mr Robert Turnbull, for trespassing on Montees Station, one red and white cow, branded like scar off rump; one red and white steer, no visible brand, owners unknown, for which 20s per head is claimed, for eating and destroying growing crops and breaking down fences on station; and, in default of the above stock being released, they will be sold on Friday, the 20th day of December, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—WM.
