PROCLAMATION

Extending the Limits of the Otago Gold Fields.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago in Council.

WHEREAS it is desirable to alter and extend the limits of the "Otago Gold Field" so as to include therein the area of land hereinafter described,

Now therefore I James Macandrew Superintendent of the Province of Otago by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the said Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council under the authority of "the Goldfields’ Act Amendment Act 1867" and of any and every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf do hereby proclaim and declare that all that area of land hereinafter described shall henceforth be included within and form part of the "Otago Gold Field" that is to say: All that area in the Province of Otago containing by estimation sixty thousand (60,000) acres more or less bounded by a line proceeding from the source of the Mataura river along the Eyre mountains to the source of the Eyre River then along the course of the Eyre river to its junction with the Mataura river then following up the Mataura river to the starting point.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago in the presence of W. A. Tolmie and Hugh M’Dermid, Esquires, two of the members of the Executive Council of the said Province being also members of the Provincial Council thereof this twenty-second day of November one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

ROADS.

NOTICE.—Whereas it is intended to stop up these Roads and portions of Roads which are severally described in the Schedule hereunder written and are delineated on the maps or plans mentioned and referred to in the "Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872," Session XXX copies of which maps or plans so far as they relate to the particular roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in the Road District specified in the Schedule have been deposited at the public School mentioned immediately after the description of the respective roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in such district:

Now therefore I James Macandrew Esquire Superintendent of the Province of Otago by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the "Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872" Session No. XXX do hereby give notice that all persons objecting to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads or any of them are required to set forth a statement in writing of any well-grounded objections they may have to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads and to leave such statement addressed to me at my office in Dunedin within sixty days from the first publication hereof otherwise such objections will not be considered by me.
