I hereby notify that I have received and accepted the resignation of William Alexander Tolmie, Esquire, as Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

PROCLAMATION
Appointing George Turnbull, Esquire, to be Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the "Superintendent’s Deputy Act 1866," it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by Proclamation to be published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to appoint such person as he may think fit, being an inhabitant of such Province, and being registered as an elector on the Electoral Roll of some Electoral District within such Province, to be his Deputy, and as such to do, perform, and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities (except as is excepted in the seventh clause of the said Act) which may be done, performed, or exercised by such Superintendent, or such of them only as shall be specified in such Proclamation: And whereas it is expedient that a Deputy-Superintendent should be appointed under the provisions of the said Act:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim and declare that I do hereby appoint George Turnbull, of Dunedin, in the Province of Otago, Esquire (he being an inhabitant of the said Province of Otago, and being registered as an elector on the Electoral Roll of the Electoral District of Dunedin, within the said Province of Otago), as and to be my Deputy, and as such to do, perform, and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities (except as is excepted in the seventh clause of the said Act) which may be done, performed, or exercised by me as such Superintendent of the said Province as aforesaid.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
In conformity to the 29th Section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden, at Lawrence, on or before the 23rd day of October, 1872.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Lawrence.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 23rd day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE.
Robert Campbell and Henry Wakelin, for 1200 feet along the line of reef, by 330 feet wide, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be contained within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated near Devil’s Backbone, Beaumont.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

NOTIFICATION
Of the Establishment of a Pound, Macraes.
NOTICE is hereby given that by virtue of the Impounding Ordinance 1872, I have established a Public Pound, situated in the vicinity of the town of Macraes, in the Province of Otago, New Zealand; and that I have appointed Kerin Clapperton, of Macraes aforesaid, to be keeper of the said Pound.
