PUBLIC NOTICE,

Under Section 1, Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Gold Field, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights in claims of the undermentioned size, viz.:

One (1) acre for each holder of a Miner’s Right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.

Given under my hand at Naseby, this 11th day of September, 1872.

Schedule.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at the west side of Main Gully, Hogburn, near the Ballarat Hotel, and comprising two acres more or less; bounded on the north by Hodgins’ claim, 140 yards; on the south by area occupied by Ballarat Hotel, 140 yards; on the east by Crown lands, 70 yards; and on the west by old workings, 70 yards.


INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously setting Fire to Two Stacks of Oats.

£100 Reward.

WHEREAS, about 8 o’clock on the night of Tuesday, the 27th ultimo, Two Stacks of Oats, on the farm of Murdoch M’Lellan, Tokomairiro, containing about 2000 bushels, value £200, were both discovered to be on fire at the same time, although about 20 feet apart: And whereas there is reason to suspect that the said fire was maliciously caused by some evil disposed person or persons: Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was originated.

INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously Setting Fire to a House.

£50 Reward.

WHEREAS on the morning of Wednesday, the 24th ultimo, a fire broke out in the unoccupied house of Arthur John Bamford, at Mornington, value £500, by which the same was totally destroyed: And whereas there is no doubt but that the fire was maliciously caused by some evil-disposed person or persons: Notice is hereby given, that a reward of Fifty Pounds will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the fire was originated.

BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A

WOOL-PACK AND SACK MANUFACTORY IN OTAGO.

THE Provincial Government being desirous of encouraging the manufacture of Wool-packs and Sacks, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise, and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £1000 as under:

On the erection of buildings and machinery to the value of at least £2000... £500.
