OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE 1871.
Election of Road Boards. Appointment of Returning Officers.
WHEREAS by the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” sections twenty-nine and thirty, it is enacted that at the first election of members of the district board for any district not divided into subdivisions, and also at the first election of members of the district board for any subdivision, the Superintendent may and shall appoint some person by and before whom such election shall be conducted: And whereas James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by proclamation under his hand, dated the 24th day of June, 1872, appointed Walter Henry Pearson, Esquire, Invercargill, to be the person before whom such election as aforesaid should be conducted, at the several districts and subdivisions hereinafter specified:
Now therefore I, William Alexander Tolmie, Deputy Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, do hereby revoke the said nomination and appointment of the said Walter Henry Pearson, and in his stead do hereby nominate and appoint the persons after-mentioned, by and before whom the elections of members of the district boards of the several districts and subdivisions hereinafter specified respectively and following their respective names shall be conducted in the manner provided by the said Ordinance.
