an endowment for the University of Otago; and it is expedient that the said land should be so reserved for that purpose: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described, a Reserve for an endowment for the University of Otago (that is to say)β€”

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by estimation one hundred thousand (100,000) acres, more or less, being Run 1 of C, 2 of C, and part of Run 189, bounded towards the north-east and east by the Waitaki River, and its Ohau branch, two hundred and eight thousand (208,000) links; towards the south and south-west by a Reserve, and the Ahuriri River, one hundred and twelve thousand (112,000) links; and towards the west by Run 3 of C, and the remaining part of Run 189, one hundred and twelve thousand (112,000) links, (be all the aforesaid linkages more or less) be reserved and set apart as an endowment for the Otago University.

Dated at Dunedin, this fifteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN Conformity to the 29th Section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Lawrence, on or before the 17th day of July.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden's Office at Lawrence.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

NOTICE.

IN accordance with section 1, clause IV, of the Otago Gold Fields Regulations, I hereby give notice that the undermentioned portion of the Orepuki Gold Field, may be occupied by holders of Miners Rights in claims of one acre each holder of a Miners' Right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six acres altogether.

That portion of the Orepuki Gold Field, bounded on the north by the Waimea-mea; on the south by Kenny's Creek; on the east by a straight line from the Waimea-mea to Kenny's Creek, intersecting the junction of Prospector's Creek, with Stoney Creek and the Tau Noa bridge, but not including any of the Prospector's Gully Spur; and on the west by the ocean.
