Road Contracts and School Vacancies




Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin.

Specifications may also be seen at the Toll-house, Saddle Hill, for Contracts No. 585, 586, 587, 588, and 589; at the Toll-house, East Taieri Bridge, for Contracts Nos. 590, 591, and 592.

Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works, Tender for Contract No. 580, 581, 582, 583, 584, 585, 586, 587, 588, 589, 590, 591, 592,” as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works until noon of Tuesday, 5th March, for Contract No. 602—Maintenance of portion of Road—“Tokomairiro to Tuapeka”—between Havelock Bridge and Lawrence; and Contract No. 603—Maintenance of portion of road—“Southern Trunk to Kaitangata.”

Specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin; or at Police Station, Lawrence, for Contract No. 602; and the Police Station, Balclutha, for Contract No. 603.

Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 602,” or 603, as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Tuesday, 5th March, for Contracts Nos. 593 594, 595, 596, and 597—Maintenance of Road—“East Taieri Bridge to Tokomairiro.”

Specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin.

Specifications may also be seen at the Toll-house, East Taieri Bridge, for Contracts Nos. 593 and 594; at the Toll-house, Waihola Gorge, for Contracts Nos. 595 and 596; and at the Police Station, Tokomairiro, for Contract No. 597.

Tenders to be lodged at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, by noon of Thursday, the 14th day of March, 1872.

The Government will not be bound to accept any offer.


WANTED, a Schoolmaster for Kaitangata School.

Salary: £75, with school fees and residence. Applications to be lodged with R. Macdonald up to the end of February next. School to be opened on the 1st April, 1872.


WANTED, a Schoolmistress for the Port Chalmers Grammar School; salary, £100 per annum.

Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged with the undersigned on or before the 1st day of March, 1872.

WANTED, a Teacher for the Waiwera Side School; salary, Government Subsidy and School Fees, with residence and about 8 acres of land.

SCHOOLMISTRESS WANTED.—Applications for the Office of Principal Assistant in the Girls’ Provincial High School, Dunedin, will be received by the undersigned up to March 6, 1872; salary, £150 per annum. Satisfactory evidence of experience and success in school teaching is indispensable.

WASTE LAND BOARD ADVERTISEMENTS.

BLOCKS 13 to 21, Greytown, containing from 3 to 10 acres each, recently advertised for sale, are reserved; 19 and 20 permanently, the rest till execution of their survey into quarter acre sections.

NOTICE is hereby given that sections Nos. 320, 349 and 372, Port Chalmers; and section 59, block 32, Dunedin, will be offered for sale by public auction, in the Land Office, Dunedin, on Thursday, the 7th day of March 1872, at noon, at the upset price of £12 10s each.

NOTICE is hereby given that Section 18, Block VII, Oamaru District, containing 63a 3r 27p, and 48, Block VI, Awamoko District, containing 10a 1r 16p, will be offered for sale by public auction, by Mr Samuel Shrimski, at his auction rooms Oamaru, on Thursday, the 7th day of March, 1872, at noon, at the upset price of £2 per acre.


TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Tuesday, 19th March, for contracts Nos. 630 and 631.
