PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 29th Section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the "Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts 1867, 1868, and 1869," for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden, at Lawrence, on or before the 6th day of March, 1872.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Lawrence.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 20th day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE.

Edward Walsh, for Tuapeka Bush Gold Mining Company, for 10 acres of land, more or less, as may be found, on Survey, to be contained within the pegs and trenches of the Application, situated immediately below Tuapeka Bush, on Tuapeka River, near its head.


PROCLAMATION.

Blueskin Road District— Powers Suspended— Commissioner appointed.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the "Otago Roads Ordinance 1865," it is amongst other things enacted in the 12th section thereof, that if any Local Board shall refuse or neglect to carry the said Ordinance into operation, the Superintendent may, with the advice of the General Road Board, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare the powers of such Board to be suspended, and may by such Proclamation appoint a Commissioner or such number of Commissioners as he may think fit for each district, and the several rights, privileges, and duties of such Board shall, from the date of such Proclamation, vest in and be exercised by such Commissioner or Commissioners on behalf of the Board:

And whereas the Local Board of the Blueskin Road District have neglected to carry this said Ordinance into operation, and it is therefore deemed expedient and necessary to suspend the powers of the said Local Board, and to appoint a Commissioner for the said Blueskin Road District:

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare the powers of the Local Board of the Blueskin Road District to be and the same are hereby suspended, and I do hereby, with the advice aforesaid, appoint

JOHN MACFARLANE,

of Blueskin, in the said Province of Otago, settler, a Commissioner for the said Blueskin Road District.
