Road Board Notices and Impounded Livestock




NORTH EAST HARBOUR Road Board hereby give notice that they intend to apply to the General Road Board at their meeting on the first Thursday of February, for authority to levy a special rate of one shilling per acre on all the front (beach) sections, with the intention of devoting the same to the improvement of the beach road. By order of the Board.—GEORGE P. BELL, Clerk.


WEST WAIKIVI LOCAL ROAD BOARD hereby notify their intention of applying at the next meeting of the General Road Board for power to levy a rate of 4d per acre for the current year.


WEST TAIERI Road Board.—The Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate for the year ending June, 1872, having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at the school house, West Taieri, on or before the 30th January, 1872.—GEORGE CROCROFT, Collector, West Taieri, 30th December, 1871.


HARLINGTON Road Rates, 1871-2.—Notice is hereby given that the precept authorising the collection of the general and special rates in the above district, for the year 1871-2, has been issued: Ratepayers are therefore requested to pay the amounts of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 16th day of January, 1872.—JOSEPH MORRIS, Collector. Harlington, 23rd December, 1871.


IMPOUNDED on the 28th day of December, 1871, by Mr M’Auley, Totara, one spotted steer, for trespassing on grass paddock, for which 2s. 6d. damage is claimed, and in default of being released, the above steer will be sold at the Public Pound, Oamaru, on the 19th day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—FREDERICK COLLIS, Poundkeeper.


IMPOUNDED on the 30th day of December, 1871, by Henry Kempson, Moeraki, one bay mare branded AU (conjoined) off shoulder, also one chestnut mare branded like O on neck off side, indistinct brand on near shoulder, owner unknown, for trespassing on grass paddock at Hillgrove, Moeraki; and in default of being released, the above horses will be sold at the Public Pound at Hampden on the 19th day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—H. IMPOUNDED on the 26th day of December, 1871, by Philip Vincent, farmer, one yellow and white heifer, branded like r on off rump, one roan steer, indistinct brand off rump, fore bit near ear, back bit out of off ear, owner unknown, for trespassing on growing crops, for which 2s. 6d. per head damages, and 2s. 6d. driving expenses are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Hayes’ Lake on Friday, the 19th day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—W. IMPOUNDED on 27th day of December, 1871, by Peter Aitchison, Awamoko, 1 red steer, like K off rump, slit off ear; 1 strawberry cow, V off hip; 1 red heifer, no brand; 1 red and white steer, like N K near side: unknown, for trespassing on freehold land, for which no damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Papakaio on Friday, the 19th day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—JAMES DALGETY, Poundkeeper of the Papakaio Pound.


IMPOUNDED on the 29th day of December, 1871, by John M’Mekan, Look-out Point, 1 brown and white bull, an indistinct brand off rump, owner unknown, for trespassing on his paddock, Look-out Point, for which £1 damages is claimed; also impounded on 30th December, by Walter Scott, Caversham, 2 geldings, one dark chestnut, branded W on both shoulders, one bay, branded E C under his mane, for trespassing on his paddock, Caversham, for which no damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Caversham on Friday, the 19th day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—JOHN ANDERSON, Poundkeeper of the Caversham Pound.


IMPOUNDED on the 23rd day of December, 1871, by Mr Deihl, Otepopo, one black gelding, branded S near shoulder, and A off shoulder, owner unknown, for trespassing on grass paddock, for which thirty shillings damage is claimed; and in default of being released, the above gelding will be sold at the Public Pound at Otepopo on Friday, the nineteenth day of January, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—DONALD CAMPBELL, Poundkeeper of the Otepopo Pound.
