NOTICES

JACOB'S RIVER ROAD BOARD

Jacob's River Road Board hereby notify their intention of applying at the next sitting of the General Road Board on the first Thursday of January, 1872, for authority to levy a Highway Rate on all the rateable property of the district for the year ending June, 1872. The assessment roll is now ready, and may be inspected for fourteen days from date at my house, (Sundays excepted).—A. Cassels, Clerk to Board.

IMPOUNDED

Impounded on the 18th December, 1871, by Mr. A. Stewart, Cave Valley:

  • One yellow cow, branded with a heart on near rump, at foot one red heifer branded like off rump
  • One red and white heifer J C off rump
  • One red and white cow, J C near shoulder, J C near rump, and T B off ribs
  • One brindle steer, no visible brand
  • One red steer no visible brand

For trespassing on grain crops, for which 4s per head is claimed, and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound at Oamaru, on the 12th January, 1872, at 12 o'clock noon.—Fred. Collis, Poundkeeper.

MOSGIEL ROAD BOARD

Mosgiel Road Board hereby notify their intention of applying at the first meeting of the General Road Board for authority to levy a Highway Rate of 6d in the pound for the year 1871-2. The Assessment roll may be inspected for fourteen days from date at the house of the undersigned.—John Andrew, Clerk.

WAREPA ROAD DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given of the intention of the Warepa Road Board to apply at the General Road Board at its meeting in January next, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of 1s in the pound on the annual value of all lands, houses, &c for the year ending June, 1872. Ratepayers may see the assessment roll at the Schoolhouse.—T. H. Merking, Clerk.

PINE HILL ROAD DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given to the ratepayers of the above district that it is the intention of the Local Road Board to apply at the next sitting of the General Road Board at Dunedin for leave to borrow to the amount of two hundred pounds sterling on the ensuing year’s rates, as per clause LXV of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865,” for the purpose of opening up communication to the settlers of block XI with the Main District Road, and to acquire other road lines in said district.—Henry Duncan, Clerk to the Pine Hill Road Board.

CLAIFONTEIN ROAD BOARD

Notice to Ratepayers.—Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, Belgrove, on or before the 2nd day of January, 1872, otherwise legal proceedings will be taken for the recovery of the same.—Alex Young, Clerk and Collector, Hampden, December 1, 1871.

CLINTON CREEK ROAD BOARD

Notice to Ratepayers.—All unpaid rates will be sued for after the 20th January, 1872, without further notice.—H. S. McColl, Collector, Hillend, 19th December, 1871.

CLYDEVALE ROAD BOARD

Notice is hereby given that the Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate for the above-named district having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 5th January, 1872.—W. CLYDEVALE ROAD BOARD

The punt on the Molyneux, at Clydevale Ferry is again in working order.—W. L. Taylor, Clerk.

IMPOUNDED

Impounded on the 9th December, 1871, by Alexander M’Brida, farmer:

  • One red and white steer, branded like a heart near rump, owner unknown, for trespassing on growing crops, for which 10s damages are claimed, and in default of being released, the above steer will be sold at the public pound at Hayes’ Lake, on Friday the 12th January, 1872, at 12 o'clock noon.—W. T. Marshall, Poundkeeper of the Shotover pound.

WHEREAS a fire, supposed to have been caused by the act of an incendiary, occurred on the 11th day of October last, at Invercargill, in the Province of Otago, in the Bank of Otago and other buildings: His Excellency the Governor will grant a free pardon to any accomplice in such act, not being a principal offender, who shall give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the principal offender or offenders, or any of them, if more than one.

Messrs. Landress, Hepburn, and Co. are instructed by the trustees of the Walton Road Board, to sell by auction at their rooms, Manse street, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 3rd January, at 2 o'clock, the lease of the Walton Toll Bar for the next twelve months. This Toll Bar was let last year for £640. Payments to be made monthly in advance. 4t-20s

One Pound.—Strayed from the Plough Inn, two light saddle horses: one grey mare branded H P conjoined near shoulder; one bay horse branded B R near shoulder.—Alex. Potter.
