leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of
Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant
a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to
the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless
there shall be valid objections against granting such
lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing and
lodged with the Warden, at St. Bathans, on or before
the 29th day of December, 1871.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed,
may be seen at the Warden's Office at St. Bathans.

NOTICE is hereby given that William Aitchison
having failed to execute the Agricultural Lease
issued in his favor, for section 3, block VI, Waitahuna
East, it has been cancelled, and the land is open for
application, under the Agricultural Lease Regulations.

INSPECTORS OF GOLD FIELDS DEPASTURING
DISTRICTS.
APPLICATIONS will be received until the 31st
December, from persons desirous of filling the
office of Inspector of the Gold Fields Depasturing
Districts of Tuapeka and Wakatipu respectively.
The District of Tuapeka embraces the Districts of
Waitahuna, Teviot and Switzers; and the District of
Wakatipu embraces that of Clyde.
The salary attached to the office of Inspector is at
the rate of £150 per annum.

STEAM SERVICE.
TENDERS will be received at this office on or be-
fore the 16th January next, for monthly steam
service between Dunedin, Hokitika and Greymouth,
calling when required off Hollyford River (Martin's
Bay), and at Preservation Inlet.
Vessels may proceed, via Cook's Straits, returning
through Foveaux Straits, or vice versa, at tenderer's
option.

of the said Industrial School.
TENDERS will be received at the office of the
Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of
Friday, 22nd December, for
Contract No. 569, construction of a timber jetty and
store at the mouth of the Waikouaiti River.
Plans and Specifications may be seen and forms of
tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads
and Works, Dunedin, or at the Police Station, Wai-
kouaiti.
