Tenders and Notices




By Section 8 of the said Ordinance, it is enacted

that the "Committee and other Officers of such Institutions respectively, shall be elected by the majority of ‘Contributors,’ either of the annual sum of one pound at the least, or of ten pounds in one sum to the said Institutions respectively, who may be present at the respective Meetings, to be called for the purpose of any such Elections as hereinafter provided."

27th October, Friday noon, two Heifers and eight Steers will be sold at West Taieri Pound.

27th October, Friday noon, a grey Horse will be sold at Anderson’s Bay Pound.

27th October, Friday noon, two Mares, one Colt, and five Geldings, will be sold at Leaning Rock Pound.

27th October, Friday noon, a chestnut Horse will be sold at Shotover Pound.

3rd November, Friday, noon, a Bull will be sold at Shotover Pound.

3rd November, Friday, noon, a Horse will be sold at Inch Clutha Pound.

3rd November, Friday, noon, Three Heifers and a Bull will be sold at Balclutha Pound.

TENDERS

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Tuesday, 31st October, for—

Contracts Nos. 545, 546, and 547—Construction of portions of Road "Tokomairiro to Tuapeka."

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, or at the Police Station, Waikouaiti.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works, Tender for Contract No. 545, 546, or 547," as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


TENDERS will be received at the Government Offices, until noon of Tuesday, 7th November 1871, for the following Services and Supplies for the Provincial Government of Otago, for the year 1872—the Bread for 6 months only.

  • Bookbinding
  • Cleaning Cesspools
  • Cleaning Chimneys
  • Funerals—specification altered
  • Mixed Firewood: must be cut at least six months. Tenderer to state the kinds of wood he will mix, and about what quantities of each he will supply
  • Provincial Coal—Green Island
  • Do. Shag Point
  • English, Scotch and Newcastle, do
  • Ironmongery
  • Kerosene, Neatsfoot, and Colza Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Plumber’s Material; Material and Work
  • Paints, Colours and Glazing
  • Powder and Fuse
  • Rations and Medical Comforts for Dunedin Gaol
  • Milk for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, Dunedin
  • Do. for Industrial School
  • Rations and Medical Comforts (exclusive of Bread), for Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, and Immigration Depot
  • Bread for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, for 6 months. A deposit of £20 must be lodged with the tender, to be forfeited if tender is not taken up
  • Bread for Industrial School and Immigration Depot

The names of the Sureties must be lodged with the Tender, and it must be shown at the same time that the Sureties consent.

Schedules for Tendering may be had from the Government Storekeeper, after 26th October 1871.


TO FOUNDERS, &c.

TENDERS, at per ton weight, will be received at the Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Friday, the 3rd November, 1871, for the purchase of about twelve tons broken railway chairs, one ton old wagon springs, delivered at Dunedin Jetty.

The Government will not be bound to accept the highest or any offer.


TENDERS WANTED

by the Stony Creek Local Road Board, for the formation of Road, Culverts, &c., at Lovell’s Flat. Specifications, &c., to be seen at the Hillend Schoolhouse, or at the house of Mr. Arthur Calder, Lovell’s Flat, who will show the works.

Sealed Tenders to be lodged with the undersigned, on or before 1st day of November, 1871.

Highest or lowest tender not necessarily accepted.—H. S. M’COLL, Clerk, Stony Creek Local Road Board, October 19th, 1871.


TENDERS invited by the Highcliff Road Board for breaking, spreading and boxing, according to Specification, 460 yards, more or less, of Road Metal, on Roads No. 1 and 2. Also, for Cutting and Forming several small portions of the above and other roads in the said district. Inspectors will be waiting at branch road leading to Mr. Thomas Inglis’s, section 31, on Saturday, the 28th instant, at 2 p.m., to show the work to intending-contractors.

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. Specifications, &c., to be seen at Highcliff Schoolhouse. Tenders to be delivered to Clerk of Road Board, not later than Wednesday, Nov. 1, 1871.—WILLIAM HAY, Clerk, &c., to Local Road Board, Highcliff, October 10, 1871.


PURAKAUNUI ROAD BOARD invite Tenders for

about 26 chains Road Formation. Intending contractors will be shown the work and Specifications by meeting at the house of the undersigned, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th.—Joseph Mawson, Clerk to the Board.


WANTED

a qualified female teacher for the Clyde district school. Salary £100 per annum. Applications with testimonials to be sent in by Thursday, 2nd November, to J. Christophers, Clerk.


SCHOOLMASTER wanted for the School at Switzers

must be married, wife to teach sewing. Salary, £125 a year and fees, with residence. Applications to be sent in to the undersigned on or before November 16th, accompanied by testimonials.—George Bainey, Secretary Switzers School Committee.


WANTED a qualified teacher for the Longbush School.

Applications with testimonials to be lodged with the undersigned, on or before the 1st December. A married man preferred.—A. Ross, Clerk of School Committee, Longbush.
