MEETING OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in me in that behalf, I do hereby fix and proclaim that the twenty-ninth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, shall be holden within the Provincial Council Hall, Dunedin, in the said Province, and shall commence upon Monday, the twenty-second day of May, 1871, at 12 o’clock noon; and the Members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at such time and place accordingly.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, this seventeenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

CLOSING ROADS.

NOTICE is hereby given that objections having been lodged with me against the shutting-up of certain Road Lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordinance 1870, situate in the District of Ashley Downs, Beaconsfield, Chalfont, Cranbourne, Finegand, Glenore, Glenavon, Harlington, Montroyal, North-East Harbour, Popotunoa, Waihola West, and Waitahuna, a Special Meeting of the Executive Council will be held at the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Thursday, the 27th day of April, at noon, for the purpose of deciding the said Objections, when parties interested are invited to be present.

FREE GRANTS OF LAND FOR PLANTATION.

THE Provincial Government is prepared to receive applications from parties desirous of taking up land for the purpose of planting forest trees.

Each applicant will be allowed to take up an area of land not exceeding 250 acres, to be selected in any part of the Province: Provided that, if within Gold Fields, the Warden of the district will be required to report, and should the application be granted, it will be subject to the provisions of the Agricultural Lease Regulations, as to entry to mine, or prospect for gold.

Any person whose application is accepted will be required, during the first year, to fence in the whole of
