His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the Provincial Government Offices will not be opened on Friday, 17th March current.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following Constables to be Inspectors of Slaughter-yards for the places mentioned immediately after their respective names:—

Constable James Joseph Tuohy, Winton.

Constable William Hanlon, Campbelltown.

HAMPDEN CEMETERY.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Mr. William Murcott, and Mr. William Stewart, to be Managers of the above Cemetery, vice Mr. Gleeson, who has left the District; and Mr. John Young, deceased.

The Meeting advertised to take place on Tuesday, 14th March current, is hereby further postponed until the first Thursday in April, 1871.

NOTICE.

Incorporated Town of Balclutha.

WHEREAS by the 28th section of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865,” it is provided that no person elected to be Mayor, Councillor, or Auditor under the said Ordinance shall be capable of acting as such until he shall first, in the presence of any two Councillors, have made and subscribed the declaration therein set forth: Provided that at the first elections under the said Ordinance, whether for the City of Dunedin or for any incorporated town or place, such declaration shall be made and subscribed before a person to be appointed for that purpose by the Superintendent of Otago.

And whereas it is necessary that a person should be appointed before whom such declaration shall be made and subscribed by the persons elected as Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors of the Town of Balclutha.
