A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the “Otago Hundreds Regulation Act 1869,” it is enacted that, subject to the provisions in the said Act contained, it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, to constitute into a Hundred any portion of the Waste Lands of the Crown, within the Province of Otago, not forming part of any Hundred for the time being existing, notwithstanding that such lands or any part thereof shall be comprised within any pastoral lease or licence heretofore or thereafter to be granted by the Crown under any law regulating the occupation or disposal of Waste Lands of the Crown, and whether or not the same shall have been included within the boundaries of any proclaimed Gold Field: And whereas by the “Otago Hundreds Regulation Act 1869 Amendment Act 1870,” it is enacted that no Hundred shall thereafter be proclaimed in the Province of Otago unless one-third part at least of the area thereof shall be determined under the provisions of the said “Otago Hundreds Regulation Act 1869,” to be land available for agricultural purposes, and that no Hundred shall exceed twenty thousand acres in extent, and that, in determining the boundaries of all Hundreds thereafter proclaimed, due regard shall be paid to the natural features of the country over which any such Hundred is to be proclaimed:
NOW therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities in me vested, do hereby constitute and proclaim those districts or portions of the Waste Lands of the Crown within the Province of Otago, not forming part of any existing Hundred, particularly described in the Schedule hereto, to be Hundreds under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
The Crockston Hundred,
Containing 20,000 acres, being parts of Runs Nos. 212 and 168, the boundaries whereof are more particularly delineated upon the plan numbered three, authenticated by the signature of the Colonial Secretary, and deposited in the office of the Secretary for Crown Lands.
The Wairuna Hundred,
Containing 20,000 acres, being parts of Runs Nos. 31, and 78, the boundaries whereof are more particularly delineated upon the plan numbered four, authenticated by the signature of the Colonial Secretary, and deposited in the Office of the Secretary for Crown Lands.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.
