PROCLAMATION
Of His Excellency the Governor having assented to certain Ordinances of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago.
By His Honor William Alexander Tolmie, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS in the Twenty-seventh Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago the Bills next hereinafter mentioned were passed by the said Council (that is to say):—
The “District Roads Compulsory Land Taking Ordinance 1870,”
The “Tokomairiro School Residence and Glebe Lands Sale Ordinance 1870,”
The “Lawrence Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute Reserve Leasing Ordinance 1870,”
The “Oamaru Racecourse Reserve Management Ordinance 1870.”
And whereas the said Bills were severally presented to the Superintendent of the Province of Otago for the assent of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand thereto, and the said Superintendent did upon the said several Bills being so presented to him as aforesaid, declare that he reserved the same respectively for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon: And whereas the said several Bills have since been laid before His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, and he has been pleased to assent to the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Alexander Tolmie, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said several Bills before mentioned (that is to say):—
The “District Roads Compulsory Land Taking Ordinance 1870,”
The “Tokomairiro School Residence and Glebe Lands Sale Ordinance 1870,”
The “Lawrence Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute Reserve Leasing Ordinance 1870,” and
The “Oamaru Racecourse Reserve Management Ordinance 1870,”
have been laid before His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, and that His Excellency has assented to the same.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, in the said Province, this fifth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
Under Section 1, of Regulation IV, of the Rules and Regulations of the Otago Gold Field.
SUFFICIENT PROOF having been shown to me that the portion of the Otago Gold Field described in the Schedule hereto has been fairly tested, and is for the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of miners’ rights in claims of the undermentioned size,
viz.:
One (1) acre for each holder of a miners’ right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.
Given under my hand, at Naseby, in the Province of Otago, this twenty-second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
