PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor W. A. Tolmie, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

I, WILLIAM ALEXANDER TOLMIE, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do, by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago in this behalf by the "Taieri District Roads Lands Ordinance 1864" and of the powers vested in me as Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, hereby proclaim and declare that all those roads and all those portions of roads in the Province of Otago, mentioned and referred to in the said "Taieri District Roads Lands Ordinance 1864," and particularly described in the Schedule hereto, shall, from and after the day of the date hereof, cease to be public roads or thoroughfares, and shall no longer form part of the public roads in the Road Districts in the Province of Otago, mentioned in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed.

SCHEDULE.

34 chains in length, 60 links wide, from District Road at north-east angle of section 16 block XVIII, Taieri, to Dunedin and West Taieri Road; bounded on the north-west by section 63, irregular block, and on the south-east by sections 46 and 47, Riverside, Taieri.

Dated at Dunedin, this fourteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In conformity to the 29th Section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden, at Hyde, on or before the 17th day of August.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Hyde.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Mataura Bridge Toll will be abolished from and after the 1st September, 1870.

ELECTION of Local Board Road Trustees.--Ratepayers in the undermentioned Road District having failed to elect a Local Board to serve for the year ending June, 1871, Notice is hereby given that a Meeting is appointed to be held for the purpose of electing five duly qualified persons to serve as a Local Board as under:--

Glenavon, Saturday, 27th August, 1870, at the house of Mr. William Black, at 3 p.m.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Monday the 8th August, for--

Contract No. 485--Constructing portions of the road "Tuapeka to Teviot."
Plans and Specifications to be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, or at the Police Station, Lawrence.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works, Tender for Contract No. 485."
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.


TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Monday, August 15, for--

Contract No. 54.--Survey of Sections 65 and 66, Block III, Papakaio District, into five and ten acre allotments.
Plan and specification may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Survey Office, Dunedin.
Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Survey Contract No. 54," and to be accompanied by the usual deposit.
The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
