TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, until noon of Monday, the 8th August, for Contract No. 485—Constructing portions of the road “Tuapeka to Teviot.”

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, or at the Police Station, Lawrence.

Tenders to be indorsed “Roads and Works tender for Contract No. 485.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received by the West Harbor Road Board—1st, Formation of road line, 16 feet wide, from section No. 33 to section No. 21, 96 chains more or less. 2nd. Formation of road line, 6 feet wide, from section No. 2 to section No. 13, 75 chains more or less. Further particulars may be obtained at the office of Mr. Stratton, Surveyor, &c., Princes street, Dunedin, where tenders will be received until 10 o’clock a.m. on Thursday, August 4th.

Not bound to accept the lowest or any tender.

WASTE LAND BOARD ADVERTISEMENTS.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the following Allotments of Rural Land will be offered for sale by public auction, in terms of the 35th clause of "The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866," in the Land Office, Dunedin, on Monday, the 8th day of August, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon, at the upset price of 10s per acre:

Section 19, Block IX, Otepopo District, 92a. 1r. 0p.

Section 8, Block III, Warepa, 275a. 2r. 12p.

Do. 9, do. do. do. 293a. 2r. 10p.

Immediately thereafter, Section 58, Block IX, Oamaru District, containing 47 acres 3 roods 26 poles, will be offered as land of special value, in terms of the 64th clause of the aforesaid Act, at the upset price of £2 per acre.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Blocks VIII and IX, Wyndham District, situated on the Mataura river, comprising an area of about 7000 acres, have been Surveyed into sections ranging in extent from 50 to 100 acres, and are now open for selection as surveyed land. Applicants may complete their purchases within the four days allowed by the Act, and may have their Grants prepared forthwith.

LAND Open for Sale on 18th May 1870.—See Gazette published 19th May, 1870, which may be had at the various Survey and Police Stations throughout the Province; and at the Land Office, Dunedin.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Section 2 of 62, Block VII, Pomahaka District, containing 27 acres, 2 roods, and 25 poles, will be offered for sale by public auction, at the Land Office, Dunedin, in terms of the 64th clause of the "Otago Waste Lands Act 1866," on Monday, the 22nd day of August, 1870, at the upset price of £1 per acre.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Section 41, Block I, Otokia District, containing 149a. 2r. 18p.; and Section 2 of 58, Block III, Oamaru District, containing 40 acres; will be offered for sale by public auction at the Land Office, Dunedin, on Monday, the 29th day August next, at the hour of noon. The former at the upset price of 20s. per acre, the latter at 25s. per acre.

NOTICE to APPLICANTS for UNSURVEYED LAND under "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866."—The Sections in the subjoined Schedule being now surveyed, the Applicants are informed that the Waste Land Board will give its decision on their applications at this Office, on Wednesday the 10th day of August, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon; on or before which day, objections to the survey, if any, must be made. In the event of the applications being granted, the purchase money may be paid forthwith.

Waste Land Board Office,

WANTED, for the North-East Valley District School, a Master, of superior qualifications. Salary, £100, with a very large proportion of the fees. There is a good residence, with garden, and also a grass paddock of nearly five acres. There are two commodious class-rooms, and a first-class Schoolmistress is employed. As the district is populous and close to Dunedin, and as the number of pupils likely to study the more advanced branches is considerable, a well-qualified Head Master could make this school one of the best in the Province. Sealed applications, with testimonials, to be lodged, on or before August 12th, with HENRY DUNCAN, Secretary to the School Committee, N.E. Valley, Dunedin.

EDUCATION MEETING.—The inhabitants of Sandymount and vicinity are requested to meet at the house of Mr. Walter Riddle, upon Thursday, the 4th August, at half-past 7 o’clock p.m., to elect a School Committee for the current year.
