His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that he has appointed the members of the Police Force after-mentioned to be Inspectors of Slaughter-yards for the districts first-mentioned after their respective names, viz:

Constable Alexander Aitcheson, for Tokomairiro,

Vice Sergt. Louis Julius Weidner, resigned.

Constable James Morkane, for Alexandra,

Vice Sergt. Thomas Neil, transferred.

THE “Otago Waste Lands Act 1866 Amendment Act 1869.”

Mr. James Beattie,
of Highcliff, is authorised by His Honor the Superintendent under the provisions of section 13 of the above-mentioned Act, to impound all cattle found trespassing upon any public road within the limits of the Highcliff Road District.

BASE COPPER COIN.

THE following Section (being 15) of “The Coinage Offences Act 1867,” is published for general information :—

“15. Whosoever shall tender, utter or put off any false or counterfeit coin resembling or apparently intended to resemble or pass for any of the Queen’s current copper coin knowing the same to be false or counterfeit and with intent to utter or put off the same or any of them shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and being convicted thereof shall be liable at the discretion of the court to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding one year with or without hard labor and with or without solitary confinement.”

And after this date, no order for the payment of money will be acknowledged by the Provincial Treasury unless given upon the form to be supplied at that office.

Of Impounding Notices:

3rd June, Friday noon, a mare will be sold at Greenich Pound.

10th June, Friday, noon, two mares and one horse will be sold at South Dunedin Pound.

NOTICE.

Tenders wanted by Fuernia District Road Board, 1st, for making culverts and forming a portion of Warepa Road adjoining Presua Church; 2nd, for making a new bridge on Awakiku Road, and forming a portion of that Road; 3rd, for repairing bridge and forming a portion of road leading to Awakiku Bush Reserve.

Mr. Christie will show the ground and specifications for works No. 1, on Saturday, 28th current, at 10 o’clock a.m.; Mr. Peter Dunn will show ground, &c., for No. 2, 1 o’clock same day; and Mr. A. Johnston will show ground, &c., for No. 3, at 3 o’clock p.m. Tenders...
