PROCLAMATION

Annulling Proclamation of 18th February, 1870, suspending operation of Section 2, of Regulation 25, of the Regulations for the Otago Gold Field, and renewing operation of said Section 2, of Regulation 25.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by Section No. 21 of Regulation No. 26 of the Regulations for the Otago Gold Field, made by Order in Council, dated the eleventh day of January now last past, it is provided that if any portion of the Rules and Regulations of the Otago Gold Field shall be deemed to be inapplicable to the requirements of any district the Superintendent might, if he should think fit, upon the receipt of a memorial to that effect, signed by not less than fifty holders of miners’ rights and business licenses residing in such district, suspend the operation of any regulation, or section of a regulation, so far as such district was concerned, and might again annul such suspension and renew the operation of such regulation or section, or might substitute others in lieu thereof:

And whereas I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, did, by Proclamation under my hand and under the seal of the Province of Otago, bearing date and made the eighteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, suspend the operation of Section No. 2 of Regulation No. 25 of the said Regulations, so far as all that district comprising the Town of Naseby, and all lands within a radius of three miles from the said town in every direction was concerned, but not further or otherwise: And whereas it is expedient to annul such suspension, and to renew the operation of said Section No. 2 of Regulation No. 25 of the said Regulations: Now, therefore I, the said James Macandrew, as and being such Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare that I do hereby, in pursuance and in exercise of the power in this behalf vested in me by said Section No. 21 of Regulation No. 26 of the said Regulations, annul the said Proclamation of the said eighteenth day of February, 1870, and the suspension of the operation of said Section No. 2 of Regulation No. 25 of the said Regulations thereby effected: And I do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the power in this behalf vested in me as aforesaid, renew the operation of said Section No. 2 of Regulation No. 25 in the said district of the said Otago Gold Field comprising the Town of Naseby, and all lands within a radius of three miles from the said town in every direction.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, in the said Province, this twenty-fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

Of Governor having assented to certain Ordinances.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS in the twenty-sixth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, held in the thirty-third year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, the said Council passed a certain Bill, the short title whereof is “The Education Reserves Management and Leasing Ordinance (No. 2) 1869.” And whereas the said Bill was upon the 23rd day of December last presented to the Superintendent of the Province of Otago for the assent of the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and the said Superintendent
