James John Taine, pro Wellington Company, for Section 6, Highlay District.

SANDYMOUNT ROAD DISTRICT.

The Precept having been issued authorising the collection of a Highway Rate of nine pence in the pound, for the year 1869-70, notice is hereby given to ratepayers in said district to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 16th day of March, 1870.

HAMPDEN ROAD DISTRICT.

Notice to Ratepayers.—All rates not paid for the current year ending June 1870, must be paid to me, at my house, Hampden, on or before the 15th March, 1870, or legal proceedings will be taken for the recovery of the same.

PUERUA ROAD RATE 1869-70.

The precept authorising the collection of the above rate, having been issued; Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 10th March next.—JAS. M’EWEN, Collector.

NOTICE.

Adamsthorpe Road Trustees intend to apply for authority from the General Road Board to levy an assessment on the district on the annual value of one shilling in the pound.—JAMES ADAMS, Chairman Road Trustees.

NOTICE.

The Local Board of the Herbert Road District hereby notify their intention of applying to the General Road Board for authority to levy a highway rate of one shilling per pound of annual value of all lands, houses, &c., within the boundaries of said district. Ratepayers in the above district may inspect the assessment roll at the School-house, Otepopo, for fourteen days from date hereof (Sundays excepted).—ALEX. PRIOR, Clerk and Collector. POLLING PLACE.

Waikouaiti District Schoolhouse, Merton, appointed additional polling place for the election of members of the House of Representatives.

GOVERNMENT INSURANCE AND ANNUITIES REGULATIONS.

THE following Regulations are made under the authority of “The Government Annuities Act 1869”:

Proposals to be made at Money Order Offices.

  1. Every Post Office, being a Money Order Office, at which the Government Annuities Commissioner shall permit proposals for the Insurance of Lives or the purchase of Government Annuities to be received, shall be opened for such purpose, and for the receipt of the premiums becoming due to the said Commissioner from time to time under contracts for the Insurance of Lives or the purchase of Government Annuities, and for the payment of any sums which shall become payable by the said Commissioner under the said contracts, during the hours appointed for the transaction of Money Order business at the said Post Office.

Any Office, not being a Money Order Office, at which the said Commissioner shall permit such proposals or premiums to be received or such payments to be made, shall be opened for such purposes during such hours and on such days as the said Commissioner shall determine.

INSURANCE OF LIVES.

  1. At the Offices appointed for such purposes by the Government Annuities Commissioner, proposals shall be received for the Insurance of Lives—

(1). By payment of a Premium once:

(2). By payment of a Premium annually, or once in every six months, or once in every three months (that is, on the 31st March, 30th June, 30th September, and 31st December in each year), throughout the life of the person insured;

(3). By payment of a Premium annually (that is, on the 31st December in each year), until the person insured shall have attained the age of sixty years;

(4). By payment of a Premium once in six months, or once in three months, until the insured person shall have attained the age of sixty years;
