Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to granting such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden, at Hyde, on or before the ninth day of March, 1870.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Naseby.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this eleventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PROCLAMATION.

Maungatua Road District—Powers Suspended—Commissioner appointed.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the "Otago Roads Ordinance 1865," it is amongst other things enacted in the 12th section thereof, that if any Local Board shall refuse or neglect to carry the said Ordinance into operation, the Superintendent may, with the advice of the General Road Board, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare the powers of such board to be suspended, and may, by such Proclamation appoint a Commissioner, or such number of Commissioners as he may think fit for each district, and the several rights, privileges, and duties of such board shall, from the date of such Proclamation, vest in and be exercised by such Commissioner or Commissioners on behalf of the Board.

And whereas the Local Board of the Maungatua Road District have neglected to carry the said Ordinance into operation, and it is therefore deemed expedient and necessary to suspend the powers of the said Local Board, and to appoint a Commissioner for the said Maungatua Road District :

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province with the advice of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare the powers of the Local Board of the Maungatua Road District to be and the same are hereby suspended, and I do hereby, with the advice aforesaid, appoint WILLIAM M’DIARMID, of Roseneath, West Taieri, in the said Province of Otago, settler, a Commissioner for the said district, to exercise the rights, privileges, and duties of the said Local Board of the said district.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this eleventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd February, for—

Contract No. 461 :—Construction of an Iron Pile and Girder Bridge over creek at Tokomairiro Gorge.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, or at Police Station, Tokomairiro.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works, Tender for Contract No. 461."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd February, for—

Contract No. 463 :—Metalling a portion of the road "Dunedin to East Taieri Bridge," between Hillside Toll-bar and 2nd mile post.

Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin.

Tenders to be endorsed, "Roads and Works—Tender for Contract No. 463."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works until noon of Tuesday, 1st March, for—

Contract No. 465 :—Construction of a Stone and Iron Bridge over the Kaihiku Stream, on road "Southern Trunk to Molyneux."

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, or at Police Station, Balclutha.

Tenders to be indorsed, "Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 465."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Land and Works until noon of Tuesday, 1st March, for—

Contract No. 464 :—Construction of a Stone and Iron Bridge over the Kaihiku Stream, on Main South Road.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin; or at Police Station, Balclutha.

Tenders to be endorsed, "Roads and Works—Tender for Contract No. 464."
