NOTICE is hereby given that applications have been made to the General Road Board for the formation of two new Road Districts, to be called Meadow Bank and Ahuriri respectively, the boundaries of which are proposed to be as follows, viz.:
Meadow Bank Road District—Comprises all that area situate in the Moeraki Survey District; bounded towards the north by block 7, Moeraki Survey District, and Blue Mountain Road District, towards the east by Bushy Road District, towards the south by Hawksbury Survey District, and towards the west by the western boundary of block 5, Moeraki Survey District aforesaid.
Ahuriri Road District—Comprises all that area situate in Blocks 3, 4, 7, 9, and 10, Glenomaru Survey District; bounded on the north by a line proceeding from the north-west corner of section 1, block 10, Glenomaru District, due east to the East Clutha Hundred, thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of the said East Clutha Hundred to the Native Reserve, thence due south to the southern boundary of block 4, Glenomaru District, thence westerly to the south-western corner of the said block, thence in a north-westerly direction over Trig. stations, L and J, and along the ridge boundary of section 1, block 10 aforesaid, and thence due north to the starting point.

Executive Council of the said Province, to enter into any agreement with any Company, constituted and registered under the “Joint Stock Companies’ Act 1860,” for the purpose of providing the City or Town of Dunedin and suburbs with an increased supply of water for domestic and other uses, for the purpose of guaranteeing to the Shareholders thereof for and during any period not exceeding ten years the payment of any sum or sums of money either as dividend or interest on the paid up capital of such Company or any part thereof, at such rate as might be agreed upon between the Superintendent and such Company, not exceeding the rate of eight pounds per centum per annum: And whereas a Joint Stock Company called the Dunedin Water Works Company Limited, was duly formed for the purpose aforesaid and registered under the said “Joint Stock Companies’ Act 1860,” and the said Company was afterwards, by the “Dunedin Water Works Act 1864,” continued a body corporate by the name of the Dunedin Water Works Company, with perpetual succession and a common seal: And whereas the works of the said Company were completed on or about the 9th day of December, 1867, and the said Company then commenced to supply water to the Town of Dunedin and its neighbourhood; and the said Company thereupon applied to James Macandrew, Esq., as the Superintendent of Otago, to guarantee payment out of the Revenues of the Province of Otago of interest at the rate of eight per cent. per annum upon the paid up capital of the said Company, which the said James Macandrew, as such Superintendent as aforesaid, agreed to do; and on the 2nd day of April now last past, an agreement was made and entered into between the said James Macandrew as such Superintendent of the one part and the said Dunedin Water Works Company of the other part, whereby the said Superintendent did amongst other things covenant and agree with the said Company that he the said Superintendent should and would by proclamation to be duly published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette, guarantee payment yearly and every year for the term of ten years to be computed from the 1st day of January, 1868, by equal half-yearly payments out of the Revenues of the Province of Otago of interest at the rate of eight pounds per centum per annum to the Shareholders of the said Company on the paid up capital of the said Company, subject to the terms and conditions the said agreement contained.
Now therefore, I, Thomas Fraser, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, and under and by virtue of the powers conferred on the Superintendent of the said Province of Otago by the said “Dunedin Water Works Company Guaranteed Interest Ordinance 1864,” and in pursuance and performance of the said agreement of the 2nd day of April last past so entered into between the said James Macandrew as such Superintendent, and the said Dunedin Water Works Company as aforesaid, do (subject to the terms and conditions in the said agreement contained) hereby guarantee to the shareholders of the said Company the payment out of the revenues of the Province of Otago, yearly and every year for the term of ten years, to be computed from the 1st day of January, 1868, of interest at the rate of eight pounds per centum in equal half-yearly payments on the paid up capital of the said Company, mentioned in the said agreement exclusive of the capital represented by the shares enumerated in the Schedule to the said agreement and exclusive also of the sums which from time to time shall be secured by debentures of the said Company.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the following Regulations, made under Schedule 13 of the “Municipal Corporations Act 1867,” were passed by the Council of the City of Dunedin on Wednesday, 23rd June, 1869:—
1st.—A Regulation made under the authority of section 4, subdivision 1, part 1 of schedule 13 of said Act:—“For regulating the height from the ground, shape, figure, dimensions, and materials of Porticos or Verandahs.”
