IT is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the election of a person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for Waikouaiti, in place of Robert Mitchell, Esquire, has been returned with a certificate to the effect that

George M’Lean, Esquire, of Dunedin, merchant, has been duly elected.

James Ashcroft, Esquire, has been duly elected.

NOTICE is hereby given that the application of Robert Clements and Henrich Brewer for a mining lease of Section 6, Block XI, Shotover District, has been cancelled by the Government, and the said land is now open for occupation by holders of Miners’ Rights.

In conformity with the 29th Section of the “Gold Fields Act, 1866,” it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for Gold Mining purposes to the undermentioned:—

John Thomas, pro British Mining Co., for 4 acres and 20 perches land, being Section 5, Block VII, Skipper’s Creek District.

August Soronson, pro Denmark Co., for 4 acres and 1 rood of land, being Section 33, Block XI, Skipper’s Creek District.
