IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED to all to whom it may concern, that WILLIAM ANDERSON and ANDREW ANDERSON, both of Waitati, Blueskin, in the Province of Otago, carrying on business as Licensed Victuallers and Farmers, in Co-partnership, under the style or firm of "W. and A. Anderson," have, this day, caused to be filed in the Office of the Registrar of the said Court, at Dunedin, a declaration of their Insolvency.

In the matter of a Deed of Arrangement made by JOHN HYDE HARRIS, of Dunedin, in the Province of Otago, New Zealand, Gentleman, for the benefit of all his creditors, and in the matter of the "Bankruptcy Act, 1867,"

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in pursuance of the provisions of the said Act, that a Deed bearing date, and executed upon, the 31st day of March, A.D. 1868, made between the said John Hyde Harris of the first part, Henry Driver, George Turnbull, and Edward Bowes Cargill (therein described) of the second part, and All and Singular the creditors of him, the said John Hyde Harris, of the third part (whereby the said John Hyde Harris conveyed and assigned unto the said Henry Driver, George Turnbull, and Edward Bowes Cargill, all the real and personal estate and effects of him, the said John Hyde Harris, for sale, conversion, and distribution among the creditors of the said John Hyde Harris) has this day been filed in the office of the Supreme Court, Dunedin.

And notice is also given that the said Deed is intended to operate, and take effect as a Deed of Arrangement executed in pursuance of and conformity with the provisions of the "Bankruptcy Act, 1867."

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

The Partnership hitherto existing between the undersigned Isaac Wright and Thomas Carpenter, storekeepers, of Cromwell, is this day dissolved by mutual consent.

All debts due to the firm must be paid in to Isaac Wright, and all accounts against the firm will be settled by the said Isaac Wright.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

The Partnership hereto existing between the undersigned, trading and known under the style of the Alexandra Dredging Co., has this day been dissolved by mutual consent, the affairs of the said Company being wound up. All claims against said Company, and all debts due to same, will be received or paid by Mr. Edward Halliday, of Alexandra. Claims must be rendered before the 30th April next.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

Notice is hereby given that the Partnership which existed between the undersigned John Richard Jones and MacLeod Clement Orbell, lately carrying on business as Sheep Farmers, in the Province of Otago, under the style of Jones and Orbell, was dissolved by mutual consent on the twenty-first day of February, 1868. All debts due to and by the late firm will be received and paid by the said MacLeod Clement Orbell.

In addition to the Instructions published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 1st day of May, 1867, the following Instructions are published for the guidance of Customs Officers, Magistrates, and others in conducting Investigations under "The Inquiry into Wrecks Act, 1863."

  1. Where any investigation is likely to affect the character of an engineer of a steamer, one or more Engineering Assessors should be appointed. (Merchant Shipping Act Amendment Act, 1862, section 23, sub-section 5.)

  2. When questions involve nautical or engineering skill, more than one Assessor may be appointed. (Same section and sub-section as above.)

  3. The power of suspending or cancelling certificates, either of Masters, Mates, or Engineers, is vested in the Court by which the case is investigated, and that Court must consequently decide that the certificate in question shall be suspended for a given time, or cancelled, as the case may be, and state such decision in open Court; any mere recommendation that the certificate be suspended or cancelled is not legal. ("Merchant Shipping Act Amendment Act, 1862," section 23, sub-sections 1 and 3.)

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that Sittings of the District Court of the Otago Gold Fields, additional to those already appointed, shall be held as follows:—

In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lawrence:— On the second Tuesday in June, and the second Tuesday in August next.

In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Naseby:— On the second Wednesday in July, and the second Wednesday in September next.

In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Clyde:— On the Monday next after the second Wednesday in July, and the Monday next after the second Wednesday in September next.

In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Queenstown:— On the Monday next after the second Wednesday in July, and the Monday next after the second Wednesday in September next.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
