ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin,
the Fourth day of March, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-eight.

Present:
His Honor the Superintendent;
The Provincial Secretary and Treasurer;
The Secretary of Land and Works.

IT BEING deemed expedient that a Commission should be appointed to revise the Gold Fields’ Regulations, and to draw up new regulations suitable to the advanced condition of gold mining in the Province of Otago, it is ordered that

Vincent Pyke, J.P.,
Michael Gaffrey, of St. Bathans,
William Carr, of Tuapeka,
James Hoyle, of Mount Benger,
Peter Limond Lette, of Switzer’s,
Robert Swyer, of Wakatipu,
Colin Campbell McIntyre, of Clyde,
John Shannon, of Hamiltons,

shall be and they are hereby nominated and appointed to be Commissioners for the aforesaid purpose.

PROCLAMATION.

Road District of Waikouaiti formed, and the Road Districts of Merton and Clevedon diminished.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted that, until otherwise provided, pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there should be sixty-one Districts which should be named as specified in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed, marked B: And it is also by the said Ordinance provided that it should be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, from time to time, by proclamation in the Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such districts, and to increase the number of such districts by forming and naming new districts:

And whereas it is expedient to form the Road District of Waikouaiti, and to diminish the Road Districts of Merton and Clevedon:

Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the areas bounded as described in the Schedule hereto, shall, from the day of the date hereof, be the Waikouaiti, Merton and Clevedon Road Districts.

SCHEDULE.

The Waikouaiti Road District shall comprise all that area commencing at the south-east angle of section 14, block IV, Waikouaiti survey district; thence on the south and east by a road line through Trig. Station J to the north-west angle of section 33, block II, said survey district; thence on the east by sections 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39, said block II; thence on the south by the southern boundary of section 40, said block II, and that line continued to the Waikouaiti River; thence on the west and north by the said Waikouaiti River to the north-east boundary line of section 14, said block IV; thence by said boundary line to point of commencement.

The Merton Road District shall comprise all that area commencing at the north-west angle of section 8, block II, Waikouaiti survey district; thence on the north-west by a road line to the north-west angle of section 33, said block II; thence on the west by sections 41 and 40, said block II; thence on the south by...
