✨ Land Proclamation and Road Closure
Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the said Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of "The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 1867"; and of any and every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf proclaim and declare, that from and after the day of the date hereof, All the Surveyed Crown Lands in the said Towns of Queenstown, Lawrence, Cromwell, Clyde, Alexandra, and Roxburgh respectively, shall be open for sale in Sections of the size and form in which such Lands respectively have already been surveyed, and as the same are laid off and delineated on the Map of the Chief Surveyor of the Province of Otago relative thereto respectively, and that from and after the date aforesaid, All the Unsurveyed Crown Lands in the said Towns of Queenstown, Lawrence, Cromwell, Clyde, Alexandra, and Roxburgh respectively, shall be open for sale in Sections to the size of one quarter of an acre each, such Sections to be of rectangular form, and of a depth of not less than twice the length of the frontage of such Sections respectively to the road or street on which the same shall abut.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, in presence of George Duncan and Julius Vogel, Esquires, two of the Members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also Members of the Provincial Council thereof, this twenty-fifth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

The Schedule above referred to:—
I.—Queenstown.
All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement two hundred and seventy acres (270), more or less, bounded towards the north-west by Crown Lands three thousand one hundred and thirty (3130) links, by Cemetery Reserve two thousand one hundred and ten links, also by Crown Lands one thousand nine hundred and thirty (1930) links; towards the north-east by Crown Lands four thousand nine hundred and twenty (4920) links; towards the south-east by Crown Lands one thousand seven hundred links; towards the south by Lake Wakatipu, fifteen thousand (15,000) links; and towards the south-west by Crown Lands, one thousand (1000) links.
II.—Lawrence.
All that parcel of Land situate in the south-eastern district of the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement six hundred and six (606) acres, more or less, bounded towards the north by Crown Lands seven thousand four hundred and thirty-one (7431) links; towards the east by Crown Lands six thousand nine hundred and thirteen (6913) links; towards the south by Crown Lands five thousand nine hundred and forty-five (5145) links, also five hundred (500) links; towards the south-west by Crown Lands four thousand (4000) links, also two thousand (2000) links; and towards the north-west by Crown Lands five hundred (500) links, also three thousand six hundred and seventy (3670) links, and intersected by the Tuapeka and Wetherstones Creeks; all of which said Lands are contained within and known as the Township of Lawrence, and are more particularly delineated on the Record Map of the said Township, deposited at the office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin.
III.—Cromwell.
All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement six hundred (600) acres, more or less, bounded towards the north by a line commencing on the west bank of the Clutha River, and proceeding in a westerly direction, with a magnetic bearing of 269 deg. 25 min. to the north-east corner of Cemetery Reserve, four thousand one hundred (4100) links; thence along a line in the same direction, seven thousand one hundred (7100) links; thence by a line at a right angle in a southerly direction, six thousand nine hundred and forty (6940) links; thence by a line at a right angle in an easterly direction to the Kawarau River, four thousand nine hundred (4900) links; thence along the Kawarau and Clutha Rivers to the starting point, as delineated on the Record Map of the said Town, deposited in the Survey Office at Dunedin.
IV.—Clyde.
All that area situate in the Province of Otago, and containing by admeasurement eight hundred (800) acres, more or less, bounded by a line proceeding from the north-west corner of section numbered one (1), block I, Leaning Rock Survey District; in a south-easterly direction along the boundary of the said block I, Leaning Rock Survey District twelve thousand eight hundred and eighty (12,848) links; thence in a south-westerly direction along the boundary line of the said block I, Leaning Rock Survey District to the Clutha River; thence in a north-westerly direction along the bank of the Clutha River to a point bearing 227 deg. from the north-west corner of section numbered one (1), block I, Leaning Rock Survey District aforesaid; and thence in a direct line to the starting point.
V.—Alexandra.
All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement eight hundred and forty-eight (848) acres, more or less, situate at the junction of the Clutha and Manuherikia Rivers, being the town of Alexandra, bounded towards the north-west by block VII, Leaning Rock District, eleven thousand nine hundred and nineteen (11,919) links; towards the north-east by block VII, Leaning Rock District, seven thousand six hundred and fifteen (7615) links; towards the east by the Manuherikia River, eight thousand eight hundred (8800) links; and towards the south by the Clutha River, eleven thousand (11,000) links.
VI.—Roxburgh, west bank of Clutha.
All that area containing by admeasurement eighty (80) acres more or less, bounded towards the north-west by Crown Lands, two thousand (2000) links; towards the north-east by the Clutha River, four thousand two hundred and fifty (4250) links; towards the south-east by Crown Lands, two thousand (2000) links; and towards the south-west by Crown Lands, four thousand (4000) links; as the same is delineated on the record map of the said town, deposited in the Provincial Survey Office of Otago, Dunedin.
NOTICE.—Whereas it is intended to stop up those Roads and portions of roads which are severally described in the Schedule hereunder written and are delineated on the maps or plans mentioned and referred to in the “Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1866,” Session No. XXII, copies of which maps or plans so far as they relate to the particular roads or portion of roads intended to be stopped up in the respective Road Districts specified in the Schedule have been deposited at the several public Schools mentioned immediately after the description of the respective roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in each District: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in me in that behalf by the “Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1866,” Session No. XXII, do hereby give notice that all persons objecting to the stopping up of
