PROCLAMATION.
Increasing the Number of Wards in the Incorporated Town of West Hawksbury.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago bearing date the twenty-third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, Thomas Dick, Esquire, then Superintendent of the Province of Otago, did, with the advice of his Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him in that behalf amongst other things proclaim and declare, that from and after the day of the date of the said proclamation certain provisions of the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865" specified in the first schedule to the now reciting proclamation, should extend to the said Township of West Hawksbury by and under the name of the Corporation of the Town of West Hawksbury, and should be applicable to and within the Municipality thereby created, and the said Superintendent with the advice aforesaid did by the said proclamation further declare that the said municipality thereby created should be divided into two Wards to be known respectively as East Ward and West Ward, and the boundaries of the said Wards should be those respectively defined in the fourth schedule to the said proclamation:
And whereas, by the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1866," it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province, from time to time to alter in any way he may think fit, the boundaries of any Municipality at any time proclaimed under the said therein recited Ordinances, and also to increase or diminish the number of Wards, and to name or alter the name and boundaries of any or every Ward of any such Municipality:
And whereas it is expedient to increase the number of Wards in the said Municipality, and to alter the boundaries of the said Wards, as defined in the said Proclamation, in manner hereinafter provided: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me in this behalf, do hereby Proclaim and Declare, that from and after the first day of August next, the number of Wards into which the said Municipality is divided, shall be increased, and that from and after the said first day of August next, the said Municipality of West Hawksbury shall be divided into Four Wards, to be known respectively, as East Ward, West Ward, Manse Ward, and Beach Ward, and that the boundaries of the said Wards shall be those respectively defined in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
Ward Boundaries of the Incorporated Town of West Hawksbury.
East Ward comprises all that area situate in the Township of West Hawksbury, bounded towards the north by the town boundary, towards the east by the town boundary, towards the south by a line along the centre of Bourke-street, and towards the west by a line along the centre of Beach-street.
West Ward comprises all that area situate as aforesaid, bounded towards the north by the town boundary, towards the east by East Ward, towards the south by a line along the centre of Bourke-street, and towards the west by the town boundary.
Manse Ward comprises all that area situate as aforesaid, bounded towards the north by East Ward, towards the east by the town boundary, towards the south by the town boundary, and towards the west by a line along the centre of Beach-street.
Beach Ward comprises all that area situate as aforesaid, bounded towards the north by West Ward, towards the east by Manse Ward, towards the south by the town boundary.
