THE Governor of New Zealand congratulates the Superintendent and Inhabitants of the Province of Otago on the establishment of the Telegraphic communication between the two Islands of New Zealand.

PROCLAMATION
Of Cancellation of Regulation No. 2, for the Depasturing of Stock upon certain Lands within proclaimed Gold Fields in the Province of Otago, and substituting another in lieu thereof.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, did, upon the twenty-eighth day of March last, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority delegated to and vested in me in that behalf, make, proclaim, and declare certain Regulations for the depasturing of stock upon lands within certain proclaimed Gold Fields in the Province of Otago, in the Proclamation mentioned: And whereas it is expedient to cancel number 2 of the said Regulations, and to make another in lieu thereof; Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, as such Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date hereof the said Regulation, numbered 2, shall be, and is hereby cancelled, and the Regulation following substituted in lieu thereof, that is to say—

  1. All other cattle running in the before-mentioned lands shall be assessed and paid for half-yearly, and paid for at the following rates, namely—

For every head of great cattle, 1s. 3d.

For every head of small cattle, 3d.

The words “great cattle” shall be construed to mean horned cattle, horses, mules, and asses, male and female, with their weaned offspring above six months of age; and the words “small cattle” shall be construed to mean sheep, goats, and swine, male and female, with their weaned offspring: And I do hereby further proclaim and declare that from and after the date hereof, the words “one year” in the form of Depasturing License, in the said Proclamation contained, are also hereby cancelled, and the words “one half-year” are substituted in lieu thereof.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, this twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

PROCLAMATION
Withdrawing from the Gold Fields certain Waste Lands of the Crown, in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS the several pieces or parcels of land mentioned and referred to in the Schedule hereto, are situated within the limits of the several Gold Fields of the Province of Otago, the names whereof are set opposite thereto respectively in the said Schedule: And whereas it is expedient to withdraw the said pieces or parcels of land respectively, from the Gold Fields to which the same pieces or parcels of land respectively belong: Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago,
