PROCLAMATION

Withdrawing from the "West Taieri Gold Field" certain Waste Lands of the Crown in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS by Proclamation bearing date the twenty-sixth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, published in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, certain lands therein particularly described were constituted a Gold Field, under the name of the "West Taieri Gold Field," and the limits of the said "West Taieri Gold Field" were thereby defined: And whereas the lands hereinafter described are within the limits of the said "West Taieri Gold Field" as so defined, and it is expedient to withdraw the same from the said "West Taieri Gold Field":— Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to me in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of the "Gold Fields Acts Amendment Act, 1865," do hereby proclaim and declare that I do withdraw from the said "West Taieri Gold Field" all the lands comprised within the limits hereinafter described, that is to say, commencing from the Taieri River at the northern corner of block I, Dunedin and East Taieri District, and following the road forming the southern boundary of sections 8, 7, 6, 25, 23, 22, and 21, of block II, Dunedin and East Taieri District aforesaid; thence by the road forming the eastern boundary of the said section numbered 21, and sections numbered respectively 19 and 20 of block II aforesaid, to the boundary of East Taieri Hundred; and thence by the said boundary eastward to the eastern boundary of the said Gold Field at Silver Stream; thence south by the said Stream to the Dunstan Road; thence by the said Road to the Taieri River, and by the said River to the starting point.

And by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in this behalf, I do proclaim and declare all the said lands hereinbefore described to be exempt from occupation under any miner’s right or business license.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at (L.S.) Dunedin, this fifth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

NOTICE is hereby given, that by virtue of the powers vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago by the "Impounding Ordinance, 1862," I have appointed

George Stumbles,

of Port Chalmers, to be Keeper of the Public Pound of Port Chalmers, in the Province of Otago, vice David Kilgour, resigned.
