PROCLAMATION

Appointing a Deputy-Superintendent.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the “Superintendent’s Deputy Act, 1856,” it is among other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by Proclamation to be published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to appoint such person as he may think fit, being a registered elector of such Province, to be his Deputy, and as such to perform and exercise all the acts and powers (except such powers as are conferred by the Constitution Act, 15 and 16 Victoria, chapter 72) which may be executed and performed by such Superintendent, and that the acts of such Deputy-Superintendent so far as authorised by said Proclamation, shall be as effectual in all respects as if performed by the Superintendent himself: And whereas I am about to be absent from the Province of Otago, and it is therefore necessary that I should appoint a Registered Elector of the said Province to be my Deputy to act as provided by the said recited Act;—Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby proclaim and declare that I have appointed, and do hereby appoint

BRYAN CECIL HAGGITT, Esquire,
a Registered Elector of the Province of Otago, to be my Deputy, and as such to perform and exercise all the acts and powers (except such powers as are conferred by the Constitution Act 15 and 16 Victoria, chapter 72) which may be exercised and performed by me.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at (L.S.) Dunedin, this third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF PORT CHALMERS.

NOTICE

Of appointment of Thomas Anstey Mansford, Esquire, to give Public Notice of, and to preside at, do, and perform at the first Elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, all the acts required or directed to be done by the Mayor of the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers, under the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865.”

NOTICE is hereby given, that His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” has nominated and appointed Thomas Anstey Mansford, Esquire, to be the person to give Public Notice, as by law required, of the place, day, and hour, for the nomination of Candidates for Election to the office of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, at the first Elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, for the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers, under the said Ordinance, and to attend on the day of nomination of Candidates for such offices, and to preside, do, and perform, at such first Elections, all the acts by the said Ordinance required or directed to be done by the Mayor of the said Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers.

NOTICE

Fixing Day and Place of Nomination of Candidates for Office of Mayor of the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers.

WHEREAS His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” has, by warrant under his hand, appointed me, the undersigned Thomas Anstey Mansford, to be the person to give Public Notice, as by law required, of the place, day, and hour, for the nomination of Candidates for Election to the office of Mayor at the first Election of Mayor for the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers, under the said Ordinance, and to attend on the day of nomination of Candidates for such office, at such first Election, and to preside, do, and perform, all the acts by the said Ordinance required to be done by the Mayor of the said Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers at the Election of Mayor:

Now therefore I, the said Thomas Anstey Mansford, do hereby fix Tuesday, the seventeenth day of July, 1866, at noon, at the Town Hall, in the said Town of Port Chalmers, as the day, hour, and place for nomination of Candidates for Election to the office of Mayor of the said Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers at the ensuing Election; and I do hereby give notice that I shall attend at the said place, and at the day and time hereinbefore mentioned, and shall then cause to be publicly opened and read all such nominations of Candidates for Election to the office of Mayor of the said Incorporated Town, as shall be in due form, and shall have been lodged with John Smyth Fleming, the person appointed by His Honor the Superintendent to act as Town Clerk at such Election, at this office, before noon of the said seventeenth day of July.

Of appointment of Mr. John Smyth Fleming to act as Town Clerk at first Elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, for the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers.

NOTICE is hereby given, that His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the power vested in him by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” has nominated and appointed

MR. JOHN SMYTH FLEMING

to receive nominations of Candidates, and to do and perform at the first Elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, for the said Incorporated Town, under the said Ordinance, all acts in and by the said Ordinance required to be done by the Town Clerk of the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers, before a Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors can be elected at such first Elections, under the provisions of the said Ordinance.

NOTICE is hereby given, that His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him in that behalf by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” has nominated and appointed

MR. JOHN BRYCE THOMSON

to be the person before whom shall be held within the High Ward of the Incorporated Town of Port Chalmers, the poll for Election of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors.
