Second Schedule.

Sections of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” applicable to the Incorporated Town of Lawrence, with respective modifications set opposite the numbers of the Sections.

NUMBERS OF SECTIONS. MODIFICATIONS.
Section Five ... The style shall be “The Corporation of the Town of Lawrence,” instead of “The Corporation of the City of Dunedin.”
Section Twelve ... Instead of “each of the said four several Wards of the City of Dunedin,” the following modification, “each of the said two several Wards of the Incorporated Town of Lawrence.”
Section Twenty-eight... Instead of the words “City of Dunedin” in this Section, the words “the Incorporated Town of Lawrence.”
Section Ninety-eight ... Instead of the words “one hundred thousand pounds” in this Section, the words “ten thousand pounds.”

Third Schedule.

Boundaries of the Incorporated Town of Lawrence, as delineated on the Record Map of the said Town, deposited in the Survey Office in Dunedin, in the said Province.

All that parcel of Land situate in the South-Eastern District of the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement six hundred and six acres, more or less, bounded towards the north by Crown Lands seven thousand four hundred and thirty-one links; towards the east by Crown Lands six thousand nine hundred and thirteen links; towards the south by Crown Lands five thousand nine hundred and forty-five links, also five hundred links; towards the south-west by Crown Lands four thousand links, also two thousand links; and towards the north-west by Crown Lands five hundred links, also three thousand six hundred and seventy links, and intersected by the Tuapeka and Weatherstones’ Creeks; all of which said Lands are contained within and known as the Township of Lawrence, and are more particularly delineated on the Record Map of the said Township, deposited at the Office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin.

Fourth Schedule.

Ward Boundaries Incorporated Town of Lawrence.

East Ward comprises all that area situate in the Town of Lawrence aforesaid, bounded towards the north by the Town boundary; towards the east by the Town boundary; towards the south by the Town boundary; and towards the west by a line proceeding in a northerly direction from the Town boundary along the centre of Peel Street to a point opposite the centre of Canna Street, thence in an easterly direction along the centre of Canna Street to a point opposite the centre of Lancaster Street, thence in a northerly direction along the centre of Lancaster Street, and continued in the same direction to the Town boundary.

West Ward comprises all the remaining portion of the said Town of Lawrence not included in the description of East Ward.

PROCLAMATION.

ROAD DISTRICT OF WAITAHUNA WEST FORMED.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, shortly intituled the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted, in the fifth section thereof, that for the purposes of the said Ordinance so much of the said Province as is subject to the provisions of the said Ordinance, might from time to time be divided into Districts, and that until otherwise provided, pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there should be sixty-one Districts, which should be named as specified in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed, marked B: And it is also, by the fifth section of the said Ordinance, provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board from time to time, by Proclamation in the Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such Districts, and to increase the number of Districts by forming and naming new Districts, or by dividing any District into two or more Districts.

And whereas it is expedient to form a new Road District, to be named the Waitahuna West Road District;—Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area hereinafter described, shall, from the day of the date hereof, be constituted a Road District, and shall be named the Waitahuna West Road District; and that henceforth the Waitahuna West Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the west by the Clutha River, on the south by the Village Reserve, on the south-east by the Waitahuna River, and on the north-east by the boundary line of the Waitahuna Hundred to said Clutha River.

NOTICE is hereby given, that in pursuance of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” a Meeting of Settlers liable to be rated for Roads in the above District, is hereby appointed to be held at the time and place after-mentioned, for the purpose of electing qualified persons to be a Local Board of Road Trustees for the ensuing year.
