ORDER
Adding another Section to the Fourth Rule of the Rules and Regulations of the Otago Gold Fields.
WHEREAS doubts have arisen as to the effect of certain sections of the Fourth Rule of the Rules and Regulations of the Otago Gold Fields, made and published on the eleventh day of April last, may have upon the rights of the holders of water-races constructed and used previously to the day of the date of the making and publication of such Order; and whereas it is advisable that such doubts should be settled.
Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to me in this behalf, do hereby add the section following, to be numbered as section seventeen, to the sixteen sections of the said Fourth Rule so made and published as aforesaid; that is to say:—
- Nothing contained in the preceding sections of this Rule shall extend or be construed to extend to deprive the registered occupier of any water-race, being the holder of a miner’s right, of any rights or privileges which he had acquired previously to the eleventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six; and every such registered occupier shall, and shall be deemed to hold, occupy, and use such water-race and the water thereof, under and subject to the regulations in force as to water rights and races at the time when such claim was originally registered; and the preceding sections of this Rule made and published on the eleventh day of April last shall and shall be deemed to apply to such water-races only of which the first registration shall have been or shall be made subsequently to such last-mentioned date.

ORDER
Jetty Dues, &c., Dunedin.
His Honor, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, directs it to be notified that, under and by virtue of the powers vested in him by the “Jetties and Wharves Ordinance, 1858,” he has, with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, made, ordained, and appointed the following Additional Rules and Regulations set out for the management of the Jetties at Dunedin.
VI. Vessels under 40 tons register shall be allowed four, and vessels above that tonnage shall be allowed six, working days to load and unload at the Jetties, as the case may be; and any vessel remaining longer at any Jetty shall be charged one penny per registered ton per day.
VII. No Jetty Dues shall be charged on Emigrants’ and passengers’ personal luggage.

CROMWELL CEMETERY TRUSTEES.—His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following persons, viz.:— Messrs. HENRY ALDBOROUGH STRATFORD, R.M., THOMAS SHANLY, JOSEPH BOOTH, JOHN HETHERINGTON, to be Managers, under the provisions of the “Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance, 1864,” of the reserve set apart for the purpose of a Cemetery in the Town of Cromwell, in the Province of Otago, by the “Cemeteries Ordinance, 1865.”
