PROCLAMATION
Reserving for purposes of Sale and Exempting from Mining Operations the Towns of Waipori and Wetherston, in the Province of Otago.
By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the fifteenth day of September, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, published in the Government Gazette of the said Province, certain lands were constituted a Gold Field under the name of the “Tuapeka Gold Field,” and the limits of the same were thereby defined: And whereas the Town of Waipori and the Town of Wetherston, hereafter described, are within the limits of the said Tuapeka Gold Field: And whereas I deem the said lands hereinafter described to be necessary and required for purposes of settlement, public purposes, and roads, and that it is expedient that the said lands should be reserved and withdrawn for sale, and should be exempted from occupation under Miners Rights or Business Licenses:
Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to and vested in me in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in Council, under the authority of the “Gold Fields Act, 1862,” do hereby proclaim and declare that I do withdraw and reserve for sale the lands hereinafter described as contained within and occupied by the Towns of Waipori and Wetherston respectively, that is to say:
Town of Waipori,
being all that area of land situate in the Tuapeka Gold Field, in the said Province of Otago, containing sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28, block I; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22, block II; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, block III; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, block IV; and sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, and 4, block V; together with all streets and street lines as shewn on the Record Map of the Town of Waipori, deposited in the Provincial Survey Office, in the Town of Dunedin, in the said Province of Otago.
Town of Wetherston,
being all that area of land situate in the Tuapeka Gold Field, in the said Province of Otago, containing sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17, block I; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, block II; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, block III; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, block IV; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, block V; sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, block VI; sections numbered 1, 2, and 3, block VII; and sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, block VIII; together with all streets and street lines as shewn on the Record Map of the Town of Wetherston, deposited in the Provincial Survey Office, aforesaid.
And by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in me in this behalf, I do proclaim and declare all the said lands included within the said towns, to be exempt from occupation under any Miner’s Right or Business License.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at (L.S.) Dunedin, this twelfth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

Appointing a certain portion of the Province of Otago a Quarantine Ground, under the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.”
By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to and vested in me in this behalf, do hereby appoint to be a Quarantine Ground, under the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.”
