PROCLAMATION

By Governor having assented to the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865.”

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS in the twentieth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, held in the twenty-eighth year of the Reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, there was passed by the said Council the following Bill, that is to say—

“Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865.”

And whereas the said named Bill was, upon the eighteenth day of May last, presented to the Superintendent of the Province of Otago for the assent of the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand: And whereas the said Superintendent did declare that he reserved the said Bill for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon: And whereas the said Bill has been laid before the said Governor, and he has assented to the same,—Now therefore I, the said Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim that the said Bill has been laid before His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, and that he has assented to the same.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, at Dunedin, this ninth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

I, THOMAS DICK, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in this behalf by the “Southern Trunk Road Lands Ordinance, 1864,” proclaim and declare that all those Portions of the Road leading from Dunedin through Taieri, Waihola, and Tokomairiro, commonly called the “Southern Trunk Road,” in the Province of Otago, mentioned and referred to in the said “Southern Trunk Road Lands Ordinance, 1864,” and which are particularly described in the Schedule hereto shall, from and after the day of the date hereof, cease to be Public Roads or Thoroughfares, and shall no longer form part of the Road leading from Dunedin through Taieri, Waihola, and Tokomairiro, commonly called the “Southern Trunk Road” aforesaid.

SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

Portions of the Road leading from Dunedin through Taieri, Waihola, and Tokomairiro, commonly called the “Southern Trunk Road,” declared to form no longer part of the said Road:—

5 chains, 50 links, 60 links wide, from Town Belt at its junction with block VII, Town District, to Southern Trunk Road at section 4, block VI, Town District; boundaries, section 3 and part of 4, block VI, and section 14 and part of section 15, block VII, Town District.

15 chains, 60 links wide, from Southern Trunk, section 4, block VI, Town District, to Southern Trunk Road, section 7, block VI, Town District; boundaries, south, sections 16 and 17 and parts of 15 and 18, block VII; north, sections 5 and 6 and part of 7, Block VI.

21 chains, 60 links wide, from boundary of block VIII, Dunedin and East Taieri, to western boundary of section 38, Lower Kaikorai, block V; boundaries, section 39 and section 38, block V, Lower Kaikorai.

14 chains, 60 links wide, from Kaikorai Valley Road on section 37, block V, to Southern Trunk Road at section 40, block V, Lower Kaikorai; boundaries, both sides, sections 38 and 39, block V, Lower Kaikorai.

95 chains, 60 links wide, from section 38, block V, Lower Kaikorai, to Southern Trunk Road on section 79, block V, Lower Kaikorai; boundaries, on one side, sections 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 90, part of 91; the other side, sections 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, and 78.
