The numbers of Military Settlers and the Colonial Defence Force included in the above Table, were, in the aggregate, 6,382: viz., 5,139 males, and 1,243 females. Their distribution in the several Provinces of the Northern Island on the Census night, was:—Auckland: males, 4,035; females, 1,089; total, 5,124. Taranaki: males, 969; females, 118; total, 1,087. Wellington: males, 35; females, 14; total, 49. Hawke’s Bay: males, 100; females, 22; total, 122.
