PROCLAMATION

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS a Writ was issued by the Governor of New Zealand to the Principal Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Province of Otago, requiring and commanding him to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as Superintendent for the said Province of Otago : And whereas (after a nomination on the fifteenth day of July ultimo, and a poll on the fourth day of August current), the said principal Returning Officer did upon this eleventh day of August, 1865, at a meeting, fixed and notified by him for that purpose, at the Court House, Dunedin, openly declare and publicly notify that I, Thomas Dick, was duly elected to be Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

Now therefore I do hereby proclaim and declare that I have assumed the office of Superintendent of the Province of Otago accordingly; and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assisting me therein.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this eleventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

PROCLAMATION

Of Governor having Assented to Certain Ordinances.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS in the Twentieth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, held in the twenty-eighth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, there were passed by the said Council the following Bills, that is to say:—

  • “Otago Harbor Trust Lands Bill, 1865”
  • “Medical Practitioners’ Ordinance 1864 Amendment Bill, 1865”
  • “Acclimatisation Reserve Bill, 1865”
  • “Cemeteries Bill, 1865”
  • “Port Chalmers Municipal Estate Reserves Bill, 1865”
  • “Roads Diversion Bill, 1865”
  • “Otago Public Buildings Loan Ordinance 1862 Amendment Bill, 1865”
  • “Otago Harbor Loan Ordinance 1862 Amendment Bill, 1865”
  • “Otago Harbor Trust Lands Bill (No. 2) 1865”

And whereas the said first-named Bill was, on the twenty-fifth day of April last, and the said other Bills above-named were, upon the eighteenth day of May last, presented to the Superintendent of the Province of Otago for the assent of the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand: And whereas the said Superintendent did declare that he reserved the said Bills for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon: And whereas the said Bills have been laid before the said Governor, and he has assented to the same:

Now therefore I the said Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim that the said Bills have been laid before His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, and that he has assented to the same.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, at Dunedin, this eleventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, at one o’clock afternoon.
