Governor may, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Colony, declare that the limit of jurisdiction of any such Court shall be extended to One hundred pounds; and such limit of jurisdiction shall be in such cases extended accordingly:

Now therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the said recited Act, and of an Order in Council dated the seventeenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, authorising the issue of Proclamations under the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the provisions of the said recited Act, and especially the powers conferred by sections two and three thereof, shall be exercised to the limit of jurisdiction of One Hundred Pounds in the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Tokomairiro, in the Province of Otago:

And I do further proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and from the first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

Given under my hand at the Government House, at Wellington, and issued under the Seal of the Colony, this twenty-second day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

A PROCLAMATION.

Constituting a Hundred in the Province of Otago.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS it is enacted by “The Definition of Districts Act, 1858,” that it shall be lawful for the Governor, from time to time by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to divide the Colony into Counties, Hundreds, Parishes, or such other divisions as he may deem expedient, which shall have such limits, and shall have and be known by such names or designations as in and by the Proclamation constituting the same shall be prescribed:

Now therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the power in this behalf vested by the said recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare as follows:

There shall be within the Province of Otago, in the said Colony, the following Hundred, bounded by the limits, and known by the name or designation hereunder written, that is to say—

MANUWENUA HUNDRED.

All that area situate in the north-eastern district of the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement sixty-seven square miles more or less, bounded towards the north by the Waitaki River, towards the east by a line due south from the confluence of the Waitaki and Maruwenua Rivers to the forty-fifth parallel of south latitude, towards the south by the said forty-fifth parallel of south latitude, and towards the west by the meridian of Black Hill.

Given under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this tenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

A PROCLAMATION.

Extending the Jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Dunedin, in the Province of Otago.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by “The Resident Magistrates’ Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1862,” it is enacted that in every case of a claim for debt or damages, such as might at the passing of the said Act, be lawfully tried in a Resident Magistrate’s Court, where the debt or damages claimed do not exceed the sum of Twenty Pounds, may be tried in any Resident Magistrate’s Court, with respect to which this Act shall be in operation, when the debt or damages claimed do not exceed Fifty Pounds; and it is provided that the Governor may, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Colony, declare that the limit of jurisdiction of any such Court shall be extended to One Hundred Pounds, and such limit of jurisdiction shall be in such cases extended accordingly:

which Bills were reserved for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.
